How the hell have you gotten so many internships?

haha, so many people ask me that. to be honest, I have no idea. just be persistent.

what do you think my chances are for harvard / what do you think i should work on?

“Intern for Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign,” what were you doing, handing out pamphlets. I doubt a high school kid was hired by the president elect? Get Honda to write you a Letter of Recommendation, if you were cool with him. I know how these congressional internships go and its all just full of lies and chilling. They mean a lot on a resume but are bs. Unless you’re trying to fill spots for the next close minded liberal (which a lot of kids are), I think you’re pretty much generic at those schools. Why take the SAT over? you don’t stick out from the crowd, at least for me. I’m not going to say how likely you are to get in because who knows. make sure all this useless political cramming actually means something.

^That was pretty harsh… but I do agree to a certain extent.
I personally believe that your political E.C.s look very impressive, but make sure you don’t blow up any of your activities beyond what they actually are. Just be honest, and I think you’ll be fine.

mike honda is a duesch

to alexanderhernandez:

Obviously, I don’t know her situation, but I did have a friend with the same title - “Intern for Barack Obama’s PC” - and it came with some pretty heavyweight responsibility for that age. He would always be visible in the news cameras behind the man himself when he gave speeches in the area (as in New Hampshire; he has yet to visit Vermont), did some major coordinating of campaign activities, and eventually was a delegate for the state of Vermont to the DNC - all at 18. So don’t be so quick to discount the possibility it’s just as impressive as it sounds.

I actually did a lot of meaningful work as Congressman Honda’s Intern as well as Senator Obama’s Presidential Campaign Intern. In Honda’s office, I wrote all correspondence such as resolutions for events, congratulatory letters, etc, helped plan a major state of the economy of silicon valley event, and attended numerous events on behalf of the congressman where I received the opportunity to network with local business professionals and political leaders.

As an intern for Senator Obama’s Campaign, I headed the student-wide effort within the state, organizing major voter’s registrations and events, as well as managing the phone banking for a local headquarters. Further, I worked closely with other governmental officials interested in doing joint campaigning with Senator Obama. I even had the opportunity to attend the DNC, but because of school, I was unable to attend.
