Unweighted Junior GPA: 3.75
Weighted: 4.15
SAT: Took it for the first time in january, came out with an 1810. Confident I will get a much higher score on March's test.
ECs: Consistently helped at retirement home ever since freshman year
Work as a counselor at a prestigious summer camp
Working for 13 hours in my city's coming election
Other volunteer work (distributing phone directories, working at town festivals, etc).
*My GPA would have been higher, had it not been for a C in my Bio Honors class this summer (though I got a C, it was still an excellent learning experience). It was my first science class since eighth grade, and i feel that it is a significant blemish on the app. I've been told by a tutor to write "Summer of 2006 was difficult for me". What do you guys think? Thanks again all

your GPA is fine so dont complain. i would really work on the SAT if i were you, because that sticks out rite now. continue building your EC's, get leadership, boost that SAT score at least 2-300 points, and you'll be good

Your slightly low GPA and your SAT score make Berkeley and UCLA reaches; hope for a 2200, or around that ballpark, to make UCB/UCLA a match. The rest of the UCs at this point are matches to safeties. Also, you don't seem to have very many extracurricular activities as in clubs (where officer positions would be good), which may hurt more @ UCB/UCLA. What do you mean by "Summer of 2006 was difficult for me"? Are you planning to illuminate how difficult the class was or something?

i guess i'm illuminating the hard time i had with the class, also the fact that it was my first science in 3 years

you're gpa at a 3.75 UW is perfect for UCLA just get your SAT up to around a 1950 maybe 2000 and your chances will be high gl

yeah ur gpa is fine but make sure it doesnt drop and keep in mind freshman year does not count, only core classes go to ur gpa and u only get 8 bonus points for aps/honors. If your gpa remains a 4.15 or above at the end of juinor year, getting a 1950-2000k would make you a match, but the goal scores for Cal and LA is a 2100.

mah1989:

UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match
