Junior Class Schedule - Long

So far, this is what my child has taken. Need some advice going forward.

Freshman

AP World
Honors Algebra II/Trig
Honors English
Honors French
PLTW
Honors Biology

Sophomore

AP Government
Honors Pre-Calc BC
Honors English II
Honors Chemistry
Honors French II

Of course every single one of his current teachers is recommending him for AP classes next year. Except for French, they only offer Advanced Studies, and then AP as a Senior.

Junior

Honors Physics (decided to pass on AP)
AP Language & Comp (chose to take this class to help with ACT score, and they won't let him take Honors because he is doing too well in his current Honors English class)
Honors French III (chose this class because he is not majoring in French)
AP US History
Honors Discrete Finite (not planning to major in Math or Engineering, plans to take AP Stats as a Senior for his Science major)
Sports Medicine II
Contemporary Economics (no interest in taking AP Econ, prefers to take AP Euro)

Senior

AP Biology
AP Literature and Composition
Advanced Studies in French
AP Stats
AP European History
Possibly another Science class

My main question is how will he be viewed on his College applications, when they see he scaled back on his Math classes? He plans to attend medical school, so really no need for Calculus. Probably a double major in Biology and Chemistry. Please correct me if I am wrong. He does very well, A's and a couple of high B's.

Actually, if he wants to go to medical school then he should take calculus. It would really help and some medical schools require the class in college. His schedule seems pretty good, but keep in mind that some colleges have course requirements. Good pre-med colleges usually require a lot of lab sciences and math.

Wanted to add, he has a fairly busy EC schedule, Varsity swimmer, volunteers at a hospital once per week, a couple of clubs: Future Doctors. When his sport is not in season, he swims club and also volunteers after school with the Athletic Trainer for Sports Med.

Thanks. I think his plan was to take it in college, if it is required. Right now in Pre-Calc BC, he is doing well, but feels that the pace of the class isn’t allowing him to retain the information as well. He was told Discrete Finite would be more of a review, which would give him a better Math base going forward.

Do you think it would be better for him to take AP Calc AB vs. Honors Discrete Finite? Then AP Stats as a Senior?

His other Science elective as a Senior would most likely be AP Chemistry.
