Junior College Courses

Do colleges think that you slack off senior year if you take 4 classes in highschool and 2 at a junior college?

Why would they think you are slacking off? It all depends on the classes you take, but JC classes would look good (I assume).

Well, would it better to take AP classes or take junior college classes during your senior year?

Although I personally like JC classes better, I would have to say AP. Only because they are standard and known amongst colleges, whereas JC classes vary from school to school.

Either way, you won't have an AP score to show on your app. from your senior year courses, so choose whichever one you feel more comfortable with.

:)

Hmmm so colleges won't see my AP scores.....but how will colleges know that I am taking classes at a JC since it doesn't show up on a high school transcript?

Make sure the JC classes are worth taking, though...often, they can be even easier than HS classes...

You send your JC records to the college. All apps I have seen ask if you have or are taking college courses, and they want the info on the app and a transcript sent so the info can be assessed.

Ask the JC to send a transcript to the college

The only reason I want to take AP classes is so my GPA gets bumped up, but I enjoy taking JC classes...so what would you guys choose

3 APs in high school or

2 Aps and 2 JC

In general, unless you have a good reason NOT to be taking the AP classes if they are offered at your school, that is the route you should take. The curriculum is standardized and your school's track record with the AP exams are available. Also it make it easier for the college to compare you with your peers. Some junior college courses are very easy, much easier than the AP courses and you are often with kids who are not of the calibre as your AP peers in highschool in such classes.

Lets say I take art appreciation at a JC over the summer, should I take art history AP in high school still?

Yes. Two reasons for this:

It's a summer class. You won't get as much out of it.

They will most likely contain different material. Take both if anything.

"It's a summer class. You won't get as much out of it."

I learned quite a bit in my Differential Equations summer class and my Linear Algebra summer class...

hmmm what if I take art history at a JC, what's the point of taking art history AP
