What are my chances for UCs like UCLA and Berkeley? Also, do i have any chance at all at any ivy league schools?

What could i work on between now and when i send my applications? Should i retake SAT or ACT?

Thank you for your time!

Your application looks pretty good so far. You are basically in at Cal and UCLA. Maybe retake the SAT if you’ve only taken it once, but your ACT is already pretty good. It’s hard to say what you should do this summer, but I would try to do something building on what you’ve done in the past (ideally, research again or something music-related) instead of introducing a new EC at the last minute.
I would consider applying to Ivys and Ivy-like schools if I were you, but it’s hard to say which without knowing your interests, intended major, etc.

I think your chances at Berkeley and UCLA are excellent, and depending on where you are from, I’d say you’re in for sure at any of the other UC schools. If you want to consider the Ivies, I’d say you have a shot at any of them. Don’t put all your eggs in the Ivy basket, because it’s a crap shoot for almost anyone at this point, but you certainly have the qualifications to get yourself considered.

To my mind, your GPA and SAT are very solid; you do not need to have a 2400 on your SAT and plenty of students are accepted at even the HYPSM schools with scores in the 2200s while others with 2300s and 2400s are rejected. Some schools also look at just your 1600 point M/CR score, and a 1500 is nothing to sneeze at.

On the extracurricular front, your violin playing and your science research are two compelling interests. I would continue these and expand them to the fullest extent possible between now and when you apply. Perhaps you can continue some of your research work over the summer? I would also remain involved in the orchestras you play in and perhaps look for other contests or outlets for your musical talent.

Finally, get your applications and essays done over the summer so that you can spend your senior fall focusing on your grades and ECs and still have time for a little bit of fun. People told me to do apps over the summer and I thought I would have plenty of time during the year, but I definitely wish I had gotten them out of the way before school started in the fall.

yeah got one of those too

you should retake the sat. anything less than 2390 is fail
