Hello, so like I said I'm a junior right now, and I'm freaking out about college. I've always been considered the "smartie," teachers love me, people come to me for help, etc... However, since I've started looking into everything lately and talking to others I feel like I'm worthless when it comes to getting into my dream schools. I guess I'll just list stats and see what you all think, but I guess I'm just asking for some input and WHAT ELSE CAN I DO IN THESE NEXT 1.5 YEARS? I'm so devastated because I've been so uninformed. My parents immigrated from Poland, I don't have any siblings, and the friends I had did not care about school nearly as much as I do, and I didn't even think to start researching on my own before the end of sophomore year.
The only thing I see myself doing in the future is becoming a doctor, which I know is tough, but I think I have the drive and ambition to do anything it takes. <3

Location: Chicago, IL Suburbs
Schools I've been looking into: Stanford(yeah right!), Northwestern, UCLA, UC Berkeley, U of I Urbana-Champaign, University of Michigan Ann Arbor

What other schools should I consider? I have no idea where I wanna go. I don't feel particularly tied to Illinois, so basically I'm open to anything.

-I got accepted as a freshman mentor (new program at my school this year), but unfortunately couldn't make it work with my full schedule. (The half-periods needed didn't match up) I'm a definite mentor for next year though!

-I'm thinking of doing yearbook/maybe school newspaper. Would that be a good idea? (Not just for college, it's something I would like to do!) But I'm just trying to manage my time with all my homework and everything.

-I didn't have leadership hours for NHS this year, but I'm going to apply for senior year!

-I spent my entire Summer 2011 in Poland with my family along with a 12 day trip to Italy. (Like camp, but I went on day trips to Rome and Venice) Could I write about that somewhere?

-Applying to Northwestern Memorial Hospital Medical Explorers program this week. A friend who was in this later got a 7 week paid internship at the hospital over the Summer, which I would also love to do if I get in!

So I guess I'm mostly asking:
1. What other ideas do you have for me so that I could be a better candidate?
2. What advice do you have for me for these last two years of high school?
3. What other schools should I consider/What are some potential safety schools? (I have my reach ones figured out, just not those. Haha.)
