Junior in search of good journalism schools or liberal arts

Hi everyone,
I'm a high school junior and I'm interested in journalism. I hope to pursue a career in magazine journalism. I'm really interested in fashion but don't want to go to an arts school like FIT or Parsons. I'm looking for either a university with a strong j-school (preferably in magazine journalism but any journalism program would be good) or a smaller, liberal arts school with a good english program.

Here are my stats:
-3.63 cum gpa (weighted)
-4.01 current gpa (I think I can improve my cum this year)
-AP U.S. History and AP language and composition this year
-Honors spanish 5 (last year honors history and honors bio)

EC's:
-Started the spanish club this year (I'm co-president)
-write for the school newspaper (2 years)
-Volunteer tutor (this year)
-Key club (2 years)
-Unicef (2 years)
-People to People Australia last summer
-Started my own fashion blog last year
-Attending a program called Teen Vogue Fashion U this fall
-Youth group (2nd year)
-Ski instructor for children (2 years)
-Ski Team (freshman year)
-Field Hockey (3 years so far, I'm planning on doing it next year as well)
-Golf team (1 year, I am planning on doing it for this year and next year)

I'm looking for schools that fall within my range (some safeties, targets, and reaches)

Schools I'm considering: UPENN (anneberg school of communication), Northwestern (Medill), Syracuse (Newhouse), UMaryland (journalism), Penn State (j-school), William and Mary (english), College of the Holy Cross (english, dad is an alum), Franklin and Marshall (english), Bucknell (english)

Also, does anyone know how Lehigh's journalism program is? I visited the school and really liked it but don't know anything about journalism there.

Thanks so much! Sorry this was such a long post!

Have you looked into Emerson College? They have a great journalism program, my oldest daughter went there. They are a very specialized school, you start freshman year with journalism classes. Great location too, right in the heart of Boston.

What can your family afford? You have a number of public Us in different states which generally means you’ll get little aid. What is your UW GPA? Any P/SAT or Plan/ACT scores yet? Almost all LACs will have a fairly strong English program. In the midwest Denison and Kenyon stand out. Some other top J schools include Missouri and Ohio.

if you go on the journalism section of this site there is actually a thread of great J-schools. Check it out.

Thanks so much everyone for the help! I don’t need financial aid (my parents said I have enough in my college fund for private or public colleges), which is good because I have more options. I will have to check some of these out. I’m taking the PSAT’s next weekend so I can post my scores when I get them back.

Good luck :)

If you’re interested in journalism, mizzou has by far the best program
