@MandarinSin As you indicated, it would definitely suggest a STEM-heavy courseload, but since TGLTGL seems to want to go into a STEM field, I think a STEM-focused education would be preferred. 8 non-STEMs would suggest either that TGLTGL has his interests in the humanities or arts (which is bad in his case) and not in STEM or that he has way too much money to spend on APs.
Wait also, isn’t psychology a science? Technically…
For a humanities major, having APs like Lang, Lit, a world language, APUSH, another history or econ, and an art (and preferably some STEM ones) would be more than enough for pretty much any college. For a STEM major, having APs like BC, CS, Bio, Chem, Phys, Stat (and preferably some non-STEM ones) would be as well. I guess, non-STEM majors should have more non-STEM APs than STEM APs, and vice versa.
Also, do note that APs are supposed to be college introductory classes, so it’s not exactly a requirement for breadth. Most colleges won’t expect you to get to college introductory level in more than a few subjects in high school. Of course, there are also those people who make taking AP tests into see-who-can-finish-first races or spend the majority of their time on AP tests writing a lecture on intermediate college material and coming up with a problem set for the grader and still managing to get 5s. Once you get to double-digit APs, they kinda just stop mattering (for you and colleges) - or at least they should…
Do note that the above paragraph is somewhat troIl. Also, do note that college confidential’s “troIl” filter isn’t very effective.
Also, for those who take 10+ APs, the name Advanced Placement should be changed to Introductory Placement. Otherwise, it gives people who take 10+ APs too large of an ego (myself included). For everyone else, I think AP is fine. Also just wondering, MandarinSin are you a troIl? Since I can be sometimes… To everyone else, don’t take the second half of this reply seriously.
Wow I’m bored. Time to go watch some anime and enjoy a lonely Valentine’s Day Eve.
