junior, low gpa

i have a 3.4 gpa, i'm hoping to get it up by the end of this year and into my senior year

i looking to major in communications or journalism, what do you think of my chances in these schools?

my first sat was 1880 (ugh) and i'll definitely retake it

bard college
rutgers new brunswick
temple university
drexel university

If you hit the 3.5 mark, scholarships and acceptances will come easier. As someone who doesn’t have that 4.0 and 2400 (and really, so few do), work on essays- journalism should give you a heads up there-, and bulking up your activities and service hours.

I don’t have personal experience with any of the colleges or universities you mentioned, so sorry about that. I thought I’d post with what I can to help because no one else posted. Make sure you have a safety school (maybe check out the Colleges that Change Lives or a good state school?).

You never know with admissions, and averages can only tell you so much. Good luck!

Oh I wouldn’t worry about Rutgers – I know some pretty dumb kids who got in there, if you excuse my speaking plainly. Might help if you’re in-state, though.

I’d start investigating some local and national essay and writing competitions.

thank you! i’m really hoping to get my grades up, so hopefully that will help with the scholarships
