SATs first try not much prep will retake in October- heavy summer prep

Now my problem arises from my GPA, i was King slacker my first two years. My GPA without electives was a 3.3 Freshman Year and a 3.1 10th grade.

During my first three years I would've taken a pretty heavy courseload including these honors/ AP courses:
English 9H
Global 9H
English 10H
AP European History (excelled in this 94 average- 5 on AP)
AP US History
AP English 11

Next year I'll be taking:
AP Biology
AP Government and Economics
AP English 12
Spanish V
Precalc

This year I sort of stepped up, Im probably at around a 3.4 or higher for this year and last quarter I did really well and got a 3.8 so my trend is going back up.

ECs are strong:
An internship, some political volunteering, Tennis team Capt., Speech and Debate Forensics captain, Trumpet player etc.

You think I can apply ED to George Washington Elliott for International Relations and stand a chance?

Or would it be wise for me to hold off on ED and show them what I can do with an outstanding Q1 senior year to show that that my upward trend is continuing.

Im taking the following SAT 2s in May/June-
Literature, US History, World history... any others I should consider?

Thanks a lot peace.

BTW im of East Indian descent so I suppose that lumps me into the gigantic "Asian" category :(

You like a good applicant. I would supplement your application with showing interest in GW: scheduling an interview, keeping in email contact with the admissions office, etc. If you're grades are trending up, that's a great sign! Let me know if you have more questions.

Well basically I think I got a good chance at GW, but I just really wanted to know if I should go for Elliott ED or RD, assuming ill have a great Q1 Senior Year.. and if people think my shot at Elliott isnt great whether or not I should go into History Major or something then transfer to International Relations.

I really like GW so far so I want to attend there :)

I would do EDII. It gives you the advantages of ED, but gives you a chance to show a great first semester senior year. Whatever you do, don't do RD.

I had similar stats (although my GPA and SATs were a little bit higher) and I was admitted to Elliott ED. I knew people who were admitted with lower stats ED, but I also know several people who had higher stats and were not admitted RD (tons of kids apply from my school, 5 admitted ED).

I don't know about your school, but with me the application wasn't due until November 15th (I think), and my first quarter ended around then, so GW was able to see my first quarter grades. I did really well during that first quarter (all A's in honors/aps) and took a few SAT IIs (i'm not even sure if they counted those, but it couldn't hurt).

Basically my advice is to apply ED if you know GW is the place you want to be and you're prepared to stomach the cost. I would be surprised if you didn't get in ED, but RD is a completely different game.

i think u stand a good chance...
i was admitted RD to Elliot and I had a 1300/1980 SAT,
great recs, good ECs, bad SAT IIs, 23/400 in my class....
I did have a russian/overcoming adversity hook though.
i'd say show interest and write a killer essay.
good luck!

I had very similar stats to you - 1360 / 2020 on my SATS as well, good ecs, etc. and i was waitlisted RD to the Elliot School. If you really really want to go there, and you can risk not getting tons of money, applying early decision might be a better option, you never know whats going to happen RD.
