Junior Statesmen of America...

I have recently recieved a letter from the Junior Statesmen of America asking that I look into their summer programs. If I did participate, I would go to the one based in Priceton (they also offer Yale, Stanford, and Gtown.) Has anyone else done this? Overall impressions? and now for the reason why this is in the Princeton section :) ; will participation in the Princeton summer program favorably affect my application to Princeton in a few years? and, for the record, I am very interested in politics so don't accuse me of resume building!!!

Since the JSA program is very expensive ($4700.00 for three weeks), it would probably indicate to admissions officers that your family is well-off, and can purchase a nice summer experience. I do not think they would care if you chose the Princeton campus over the Yale, or Stanford one.

What would be important is the knowledge, and enthusiasm for politics you gained from the session, and how you communicated that in your essays.

i wouldn't be able to attend without a scholarship, so hopefully they would view me as highly motivated rather than highly wealthy heheh and thanks! I'll keep ^^ that in mind

Good luck with the scholarship. Another program available between junior and senior year is the Economics for Leaders summer sessions. These are fully paid: room, board and tuition. You just pay your airfare to one of the six or eight locations around the country (college campuses).

It is competitve for acceptance, but a great experience. The website is fte.org
