I've heard that Junior year summer is the prime time to get an internship and also the time when the competition is most fierce. So I was wondering if on average, if Dartmouth students avoid Junior year summer to get internships, using the advantage they get of the D-plan or if they just get one Junior year summer anyway. Thanks!

bump…?

I’d really say it depends on the person. However, I know quite a few people who will utilize the D-plan to take off junior spring and summer, and get an extended internship/position. It’s nice to be able to tell the employers you’re available anytime after mid-march to september than june to september. Some also use the D-plan to get winter internships etc… (if you happen to take off summer and fall you can be available from june-december). But the D-plan is customized a lot, so it depends on your goals etc.
