Hello,
I am currently a junior in high school and I am thinking about applying to UW in the future. I'm hoping to major in International Studies or Asian Studies. I have a GPA of 4.5 weighted (it might be 4.3 or 4.2-ish, by college standards). After this school year, I will have taken six AP classes (World=5, Euro=5, Art History=5, APUSH=?, AP Lang=?, Enviro=?). My SAT scores aren't too hot, though (Math=490, Reading=620, Writing=510). I am also out of state.
If I raise my SAT scores and take the ACT, how are my chances of getting in?

Getting your SAT up is a definite plus. If you think you’ll do better on the ACT (more science based, math has trig) then I would go for it as well. See if you can find out what your GPA is out of 4.0 (unweighted) as that is the only scale UW considers, and will make chancing you much easier. What kinds of activities, sports are you involved in?

My GPA is a 4.0 on the unweighted scale and will hopefully stay that way. I am on the swim team and in te National Honor Society. I have 100+ volunteer hours at a historical site and I am getting a job this summer.
I’m taking the ACT on the 9th, too.
