Junior Transfer - Industrial Design

Hey!

I’m going to be applying or RISD transfer for the spring… I’m a junior mechanical engineer at George Washington University and would like to move over to a prominent industrial design program.

My experience for ID is: design intern at Autodesk, and assistant industrial/product designer (co-op) at Bragi, and lots of projects outside of school. School work gave me a strong advanage of understanding technology and the engineering means of making creative processes possible.

Let me know if getting into ID as a junior transfer has been done/possible given a very strong resume detailing large design work in corporate design studios.

As a former student of the ID department, and after having looked at your website…don’t do it. You have some chops and you could get in but it wouldn’t be worth it. Finish your mechanical engineering degree and then attend an ID graduate program. Far more useful combination in the future. Take from someone who did ID and is now trying to get into a mech e grad program. Damn hard having a BFA.
