I have applied to transfer as a sophomore, but am not very satisfied with the aid I got and the places I got into. So, I want to at least try once more as a junior. My HS GPA wasn't very good, something like 3.5. However, my college GPA will be ~3.9 from the University of Michigan when I apply for the transfer. If it matters, I wish to apply as a transfer to Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, and Penn.

Now my question is, should I consider retaking SATs? Will that make a difference for a junior transfer? My current scores are:

SAT
First attempt: 640, 720,710 (CR, M, W)
Second attempt: 730, 690, 680 (CR, M, W)
Superscore (if they do that, I don't know which do): 2160

SAT IIs
Math I: 710
Math II: 700 and 740
U.S. History: 700

Would it matter to retake any of these? Thanks.

As a junior transfer, it won’t matter if you retake the SAT. Your scores aren’t alarming (below 2000), so your excellent college work will more than take precedence. Good luck!

Ok thanks. Another question: if I take a summer course at Yale and do well, will that have any affect on the decision (other than the normal effect doing well in a course has), even if very small? Also, since I think the course goes onto my transcript as if I took it at Michigan, will Yale (and other colleges) know that I took it at Yale?

IMO, no, it won’t make a difference in your decision. These colleges know that anyone who can make a 3.9 at UM over two years can succeed academically at any school in the nation. And summer classes are usually viewed a little differently since it’s the only thing you’re doing, compared to carrying a full load during the school year (yes, I know the time is shorter, but it still isn’t considered the same).

I thought transcripts always indicated where courses were taken, not positive though.
