Junior year and senior year at the same time?

I am currently a junior in public high school. I am about to start homeschooling myself for my senior year in my free time after school. I am a straight A student and in dual enrollment, I definitely feel like I am self motivated enough to teach my self. For my senior year, all I need is English.. So i feel like going to school one more year is a waste of time.. I am not really interested in dances and walking for graduation. My dad is going to issue my diploma. Do you think it will look okay on college applications that I doubled up and did my junior year in public school and my senior year homeschooled at the same time?

Thanks!

I say go for it! We have seen some homeschoolers go on to college after their junior year, even one who was one credit short of state requirements. The college let her in, on the condition she finish that credit her freshman year of college.

Make sure you’ve done your research for graduating with all needed courses, plus whatever requirements the colleges you are interested in applying to will want you to have.

In our state, we can get free dual enrollment courses, so sticking around for your senior year to rack up free tuition for some core courses would make financial sense.

I, myself, am in the same situation as you. I’m a junior in a high school in NY and I’m about to switch to a home school program which enables me to graduate in September and start college in Spring. You’ll be fine! Good luck!

Why not consider using your senior year to take college classes as a high school student. In my area, high school students get a terrific break on the cost of tuition if they take any classes while they are still high school students. All of my kids took 4 years to complete high school but this included quite a few college classes at our local community college. this enabled them to finish college early and save thousands of dollars in the process.
