Junior Year Classes

I am currently a sophomore, I’d say I’m a bit above average at my school. All honors (as AP courses are really only available to Juniors and up) I have a 4.5 GPA, and all A’s. I am currently 19th out of around 320. I am really struggling to pick my classes for junior year.
Currently, my class schedule is looking like
APUSH
AP Lang
Precalc and Trig
Spanish III
AP Bio
Gym/Health
Advisory

This is a pretty heavy load at my school as most are only taking APUSH, AP Lang and Alg II their junior year. Has anyone else had a similar schedule and want to let me know how the workload was?
I also have to get a semester of art by the time I graduate and I know I am not going to do anything involving art in college, will it matter that I only took one semester?

While I cannot speak for your school completely, I did take APUSH, AP English Language, AP Psychology, and AP Physics 1 alongside two honors courses this year. Overall, the work is manageable. You do have to spend a lot of time doing homework and studying for challenging tests and quizzes, but it is definitely doable, especially if you have already received all As and am staying in regular Pre-Calc. While I cannot speak for AP Biology, it is known at my school to be relatively not too challenging. However, I have read a lot of threads on Reddit and on CC which complain about the difficulty because it seems that my school is part of a minority. They do seem to agree that the course has become a lot more challenging near the end of the school year.

For all three AP courses, I would suggest asking around the difficulty because the teacher you have can largely decide how the workload and difficulty of the course is. For example, it is very rare for someone who has my APUSH or AP English Language to obtain an A while it is not relatively uncommon with the other teacher (for both courses). On the other hand, there are a number of students in my AP Psychology class with an A, while other kids with the other teacher usually do not.

Best of luck in your junior year courses.

Have a nice day.

That schedule is fine.
Art: unless you’re applying to universities in California, you’re fine having only a semester (performance or appreciation).

All of my courses are honors however honors at my school is not too challenging. As for AP Bio, it is known to be the hardest AP class at my school and APUSH is just a joke. Thank you for your feedback!

Why AP Bio? Have you taken Physics yet?

Looks fine to me. My D20 had a similar schedule. Good luck!

I’m interested in bio and life sciences. I have not taken Physics yet, it’s not a prereq at my school. Should it be?

If you are considering highly selective colleges, then yes, you should have one year of physics (two is even better for engineers or computer scientists).

I will be taking either Physics honors or AP Physics my senior year. I’m just taking AP Bio my junior because it is very memory and study heavy.
