Junior Year Course Load - Enough for NU?

Hello! I will be entering my Junior year in a few weeks, but unfortunately the way my school's master schedule turned out, I was cheated out of one of my AP's this year (AP Psychology) and any electives of any sort.

My classes this year now only include:

AP English Language and Composition
AP U.S History
AP Physics
Pre-Calculus
Italian 4
Band/Chorus
Phys. Ed Leadership Program.

The only class I can pick up is AP Statistics during my lunch period, but I've heard mixed reviews of the work load and I do not want having the extra burden to bring down my grades. On the other hand, this list of courses looks pretty empty. (At least to me!)

I'm aiming for NU and would like to know what I should do to give me a better shot at getting accepted. Is my course load how it is enough? Or should I pick up Statistics?
(By the way, my senior year will most likely consist of 5 AP's) Thanks for all of your help!

Three APs and a high level language class looks fine, to me. Is pre-calc a springboard to an AP Calc class?

My Junior year was just two APs - English Lang & Comp, and Psych (partially due to schedule, but frankly partially due to my school only offering so many APs, because it is a small private school.) My school did list all of its other classes as ‘honors’, but it was still the fact of two AP classes. My senior year was 4 APs with no math class, and they seemed to measure it as fine. If you have solid grades and keep up the trend through this year, you will be fine. Performing well on those AP tests doesn’t hurt, either. By only having 3, you can dedicate yourself to studying for them much more readily than with even just one more. Focus on that, and not too much about worrying over your schedule. I don’t think one class will make a difference.

As you are just now taking pre-Calc…you may wish to hold off on AP Physics till next year.
Is there another AP science class you might consider taking, instead?

Perididdle - Yes, Pre-Calc is a springboard to AP Calc next year. (Hopefully BC) I understand where you are coming from, and agree with you completely, but my parents, guidance counselor, and even my principal have told me that they think I can and should do it. Personally, I feel it would be too much with all my EC’s and SAT Prep this year.

APOL - It’s fine, it’s normal in my school for most Juniors in the honors classes to take AP Physics. My school does offer Chem and Bio, but I dislike Chemistry (even though I did excellent in the New York State course last year) and Bio is usually a class for Seniors. The Physics teacher is actually really good and, as long as you work hard, he gives out very good grades.

Thanks again for all of your help, guys. I really appreciate it!

I had a nearly identical schedule my junior year (I would argue, actually, that my schedule was slightly easier), and I got in. You’re fine. :)

Thanks for all of the help, everyone! I ended up leaving my schedule the way it is. I actually made my Study Hall a free period because I’m going to try to organize some sort of internship I could do or create a community service project. Now all I have to do is keep my grades in tip top shape for NU! Thanks again for everything.
