I will be a junior in high school next year and I am unsure on what courses to take considering I have not figured out what kind of major I want to do. As of late I feel like I am suited for either the engineering line or business line (economics, finance, etc). Anyway, I can take a total of 8 blocks worth of classes next year. For sure, I am taking:

Ap English III
Ap French IV
Ap Calculus AB
Honors Global Studies
Gym

For the remaining three blocks, I have some flexibility. It is necessary to take a science so I feel like taking Ap chemistry and AP physics C would be a good option. However, I am not too great at physics and will not have time to study specifically for physics so I am not sure if I should take physics. On the other hand, Physics is much less work than Chemistry. What do you guys recommend. Please feel free to talk about other courses than just the two sciences I have mentioned

I would say if you are not very good a Physics stay away from Physics C as that is where things start getting difficult. I assume you also would not have time to study for AP Chem? Honestly if you don’t think you will have the time to study why bother taking a course that you will have a high likelyhood of failing. Perhaps just take an elective instead?

I am not saying i will not study for it, but i do not intend on making those classes a priority. Another option i have considered is taking Ap economics and Ap environmental science instead of either of the two double block ap sciences. Is ap enviro a worthwhile class because i do not want to take any meaningless aps.

If you’re planning to apply to selective colleges stick with core courses before you pick electives. Lab science courses, which include physics and chemistry, are core courses. Insofar as college applications are concerned either is a good choice. AP Economics and AP Environment Science are electives. If you’re likely to pursue an engineering degree then physics is a slightly better option. There is a great deal of synergy in taking calculus in parallel with physics.

I thinking taking Physics is the best option. However, judging off my peers who have taken the class before, I do not see myself getting any higher than a B. Is there a way I can prepare for this calss in the summer and get atleast an A-
