Junior Year Course Selection

Hi guys,
It’s that time of year again: course selection! Would this course load be considered manageable yet still challenging enough for junior year? Unfortunately, we aren’t allowed to double up on any departmental class, but I plan on self-studying AP Stats.

AP Bio
AP USH
AP Comp Sci
Honors Precalculus
Honors American Literature (this apparently covers material for the AP Language Exam, so I’ll also be taking that)
Spanish 3

Thanks for the feedback!

Looks good to me.

That looks like a good schedule. Is the AP Lang class not offered at your school though?

Out of curiosity, do you plan to take Calc Ab or BC in senior year? (Although it might be a good idea to see how precalc goes first lol.)

Your schedule looks pretty tough, but I would just double check with the English class thing because I am in AP Lang right now, and the American lit class in my school focuses on completely different things- most of the things I’ve talked about in my class they’ve never heard of. It might be a good idea to double check or else the AP exam will be very difficult.

Does your schedule only have 6 periods or are you taking a study hall?

We have 7 periods but I’ll take a free first like most kids at my school! And the honors American lit class specifically preps for the ap exam… kinda weird.

@gonfaloniere‌ I’m aiming for bc senior year!

Looks fine then.
The Honors class that prepares you for AP probably exists because your district didn’t pay for the teacher to get the official AP training and endorsement, but the teacher still teaches well enough to a group of sufficiently prepared juniors that they can take the AP test. In that case, absolutely take that test (otherwise, “but Honors Am Lit prepares for the test” will be meaningless.)

It might just be my school but a lot of teachers do not suggest taking AP Bio and APUSH together because they are both heavy loads of reading. But in the end its up to you, if you have the willingness to work hard I think you should be fine!

Looks good to me then!
