Junior Year Crisis

so the time has come again to register for classes for next year at my school (i’m a rising senior)

and i am having a major crisis (hence the title) on what to do. I really want to apply to Brown next year (PLME most likely since i definitely want to be a doctor) and i was wondering if taking one of the following schedules over the other would help my chances at a liberal arts college such as brown and (other ivies, ivy equivalents)

I have an eight block schedule
One possible schedule
AP Eng 12
AP US Govt
AP Calc AB
AP Bio
AP Environmental Science
Hon. Show Choir (I’ve been in choir since 2nd grade and my high school choir is nationally ranked and has many local, state, national accoldades)
Newspaper 4 (not weighted)–(but i am a good writer and possibly want a career in medical journalism)
Academic Resource (To be editor-in-chief of the school newspaper I need 2 blocks of newspaper …so i have to take the academic resource)

Other possibility
AP Eng 12
AP US Govt
AP Calc BC (2 blocks)
AP Bio
AP Envi
Newspaper
Academic Resource

I don’t know what to do
Should i drop the choir
Should i not be main editor in chief and just take one block
Will not taking BC Calc hurt my chances at top schools???

I just want some advice from other people before i drive myself crazy! Thanks

Not taking BC probably won’t hurt much.

I wish my school offered BC though because not having that extra semester Calc in college is nice.

I wouldn’t drop something you love though to get another semester of calc out of the way.

what modestmelody said. Don’t drop something you love and something you’ve done for years.

please read Matt’s longish post toward the end of this thread, if you haven’t already:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/457012-those-accepted-brown-plme.html

Remember, most everyone applying to Brown will have stellar grades and huge amounts of APs on their transcripts; the deciding factor is what comes after, which, in your case, is journalism and choir. Stick with it. It shows them something about you that may be unique.
