Junior Year Grades Question

I have been constantly reminded that Junior year grades are the most important grades for college admission. However, my average for an ap Bio class was a B- for the first marking period of my Junior Year. (The school I attend has four marking period grades and a final grade rather than semester grades). I brought my final grade up to an A- at the end with better marking period grades for 2,3,4 . Would that B- hinder my chances of getting into Elite schools? In other words, are individual marking period grades decision factor in the admission process?

Schools use your final grades.

If your quarterly grades are on your transcript, colleges will certainly look at and consider them.

At my D’s school, GPA is calculated with every quarterly grade - the final grade in a course is actually meaningless to a GPA.

But a B- and (presumably) three A’s are basically equivalent to an overall A-, so it doesn’t really matter.
