Junior year grades

As of right here are my grades:

AP calc- B
AP Physics- B
AP World- A
AP English- A
Honors Spanish 3- A
Band- A
TA- Pass

So... Umm... hmm... I am normally really good at math and science... but... My teachers really really really suck. And with this many AP classes I find it really hard to study extra on my own time. How can I raise these grades? I have a 4.0 right now, and I can handle getting 2 B's, but I would like to try to preven getting them if at all possible. I am most likely going to be able to raise the Calc grade by the end of the semester, but I am not sure about the physics grade. The teacher is a really hard grader, any tips?

Hey, I’m in the same pickle. Same year. Same amount of AP’s. Perfect track record too (despite taking 3APs sophomore year with 3 5’s).

The classes I’m a little iffy about seem to be the “easiest” classes lol (Chinese and English). The English teacher is like super hard and there’s only 3-5 A’s every semester among ALL his classes. I right now have a 90.80ish but that can change like any second. For Chinese, it’s just like meh…for one of the tests, I forgot to translate it so I got like a 60/90 and I’m like ew. ): I guess it’s kinda my fault though.

Just study as much as you can outside of class if you find the class difficult. Perhaps during your TA period?

AP US- B (i did not know participation was a huge deal)
AP lang/comp- B+ (bad teacher, gives favorites higher scores)
AP Environmental Science- A
French 4- B+ (not unsatisfied with my grades, but the teacher is a total …you know what)
Algebra 2- B (teacher sucks)
Chemistry- A+ (teacher is awesome)

Yeah, my grades need a little work, but hey, only 1 month in, i have a ton of time to get good grades, and im already in gear, so im feelin good. and im not one of those people that blame all their bad grades on their teachers, but some of my teachers really do suck

mine are worse D;

APUSH - ? high-mid B
AP Eng - C+ (summer assignment plus Crucible quiz brought me down)
AP Chem - B
AP Spanish - B
APAH - ? low A-high B
Honors Pre-Cal - A

GPA with these grades: somewhere around 4.0 weighted

Yeah I have 4.000 unweighted GPA my fresh + soph year (and 4.0+ for weighted) but my grades as of now…

APUSH: B
Am Lit Honors: B+ (it’s so close to A-!!!)
AP Chem: A-/B+ (oscillating between those two -___-)
Precalc H: A (easy A for me)
Chinese 3: A (100% haha easy)
A’cappella choir: I better have an A?
TA-pass

Both my APUSH and AP Chem give a grade bump-up if I get a 5. Being an Asian, I HAVE to get a 5 XD
But A in APUSH is still very difficult :frowning: any tips for acing this class? Not much participation grade. Mainly test grades.
And am lit honors, as far as I know, has no bump-up. Uh- uh…

Spanish 4- A
Math Analysis/Pre-cal- C ++++ (damn those tests)
AP Psych.- A
AP Chem.- A
APUSH- A
Med Microbiology- A
Honors English 11- A
Pathophysiology- A

obviously there’s something wrong with this … : /
I AM MATHEMATICALLY CHALLENGED

Just try studying the right way and asking for help.

Don’t stress getting straight A’s, if you can, that’s great, if you can’t, it’s not a big deal.

I’m taking 3 aps this year compared to 2 last year and for some reason I’m doing way better. Last year my gpa was a drop above 3.8. Now I have almost straight A+s. I never saw this coming.

Summer Courses (Counted As first semester Junior Year)

Earth/Environmental Science Honors-100
English III Honors-99

AP English Literature-98
AP US History-92 :frowning:
Biology Honors-105
CHM 151: General Chemistry I-95
MAT 271: Calculus I-95

Is anyone else on Block? I guess this is a pretty decent course-load.

^What is your science sequence?

Spanish 3 - A
Teacher’s Aide - P
AP Chem - A+
Honors English 11 - B+
Honors Pre-Calc - A
AP US History - B+

The English will hopefully be up to an A- when he catches up on grades. Provided, I did well on the morpheme test. It was super hard. And we don’t have a lot of homework points in AP US, and I get straight-B’s on the tests in there.

AP Calc - B+ - 89 - but no worries, should be an easy A later on
AP Physics A - 92 - Haha, for now. We just took a test and I think I got a 30% on it so
Engineering Analysis - A+ - 100% - Some kids find it super hard but it’s been pretty easy for me…
Weight Training - A+ - Yeah…
English 5 - A+ - 98% - blowoff class

Easier semester, but gets tougher later on. I keep the APs next semester, plus AP Macroeconomics and AP World History, throw in some Adv Chem (Taking AP next year, couldn’t fit it into my sched) and you have a tough 2nd half of the year…

I assume this is what you mean:

9th: Engineering Honors, Our Version of Physical science Honors
10th: AP Physics B (Online), Chemistry Honors
11th: Earth/Environmental Science Honors, [College] General Chemistry I&II
12th: [College] Organic Chemistry I&II, [College] General Biology I, Forensics Honors, [College] General Physics I&II (Calculus-based)

Hopefully it all works out…

school has barely started and you guys are already talking about your grades common, i know junior year grades are important for college but its not even the end of the first triad. it seems alittle naive for you to be putting your grades down and for some of you already making excuses this early in the school year

Hate to break it to you, but it doesn’t really matter if your teachers suck; you are responsible for learning material. Get together with others, form a study group, even read ahead to yourself in class. Do whatever it takes.

^ …and that’s just where I happen to disagree. Take my Honors Chem class sophomore year as an example: our homework was MUCH easier than the actual tests, and the book was far too vague. I took copious notes in class, yet they only taught me how to solve basic problems and not the complex ones that I often saw on tests. In fact, my teacher never used the book at all and didn’t go according to its sequence; he’d often jump around, going from one unit to another and then back again. My parents didn’t know a single thing about chemistry either, so when I asked them for help, they couldn’t do anything.

I sure was lucky to have ended up with a B- in that class…

This week is my 9th week of high school and college mid-terms are this week too… Not sure about everyone else but it’s mid-semester for me.

fledgling, so you’re relying on your class to teach you? That’s not a good mindset. Sure, classes help, but ultimately, to be successful, one must sometimes find alternative ways of educating himself.

Well, since my parents couldn’t help, I actually tried to find a tutor. But the thing is, I lived in Singapore last year, and attended an international school, so our curriculum didn’t quite match up with the one in the local schools. As a result, no tutor for me lol… so my class was the only option I had.

Couldn’t you at least get a book? :P
