Junior year SAT: October vs January

Hi, so I'm in a dilemma.

So over the summer I was preparing for SAT with the mindset to take it in October. I decided to take it in October mainly so I could get it out of the way and focus on school (I'm doing the full IB diploma) and I could retake in necessary for January. I was aiming to get a 2200+ but I started of the summer in the 1700s.
However now, there's a month till the SAT and my score is only a 1900. I don't know if I will be able to pull my score up to a 2200+ in a month due to school and extracurriculars. So I am considering taking it in January.

Basically, the main reason I want to take it in October is so I can get it out of the way and focus on school. However I feel like I am not prepared enough and will probably have to end up retaking in January.
If I take it in January, I'll have to wait a little longer but I will get more time to prepare. However if I do take it in January, I will have to really try to get a 2200+ on my first time. I don't live in the USA so I can't retake in March, so the only time I could retake would be May (don't want to as I'll have IB exams) or senior year (don't want to push it to senior year).
I talked to my counselor and she suggests January but my parents prefer October and I am confused!

Please let me know if you think I should do it in October or January!
Thank you!

Take it in October. You will get an idea of the actual SAT. Any mistakes regarding timing.etc can be noticed, and then corrected in January. Incase you give it in Jan straightaway, you will need another attempt which can make it even more hectic.

I think you should wait until you’re ready; sounds like January makes more sense.
