Junior year schedule? Rigorous?

Original message is here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/758538-these-classes-considered-rigorous.html

My original message wasn't getting much attention, so I figured if I re-posted here it would get more publicity. If you have any questions/comments I will reply asap, and you can also PM if you would prefer.

If you’re seriously not getting it, read those posts again. Rigor is determined by what others are taking at YOUR school. If you wanted me to compare it to my school, then I would say no, it is not rigorous at all.

My own schedule looked like this:

AP Chinese Language and Culture
AP Physics C:Mechanics
AP Physics C:E&M
AP Calculus BC
AP U.S. History
AP English Language and Comp.
Honors American Literature

Seriously. You’ve already gotten the answers you wanted.

I agree with the above poster. It depends on your school. If those classes are some of the hardest at your school, then I would say it’s rigorous.

Hm. this is what I have—

AP US History
AP Statistics
AP Chem
AP Bio
AP Lit and Comp
AP Spanish
self-study AP Calc BC

I already did AP Calc AB, AP Physics C Mech, AP Lang and Comp, and AP Euro. Got 5, 5, 5, 4 respectively. It all depends on what the rest of the kids in your school are doing.

These are my words as well.

I also agree with everyone here. At my school, only three people (myself included) are taking 3 APs junior year, which is seen by most as “ridiculous.” We’re not allowed to take any more and it doesn’t even fit into the schedule  But by CC standards, my schedule is kind of pathetic. As long as your schedule is hard in comparison to everyone else in your grade, then your fine.

Hurt- I was not trying to compare it to your school. When I originally posted this message, my other message had barely gotten any attention. I figured people on this board would be more willing to help… But thank you, for clarifying that you obviously took harder classes than me. I’m taking the most challenging, and hardest classes offered at my school. I just wanted to see what other people thought about it. And yes, now I “seriously” get that everyone else is taking harder classes than me, even though I am trying to take as much as I can.

Wartsandall- Thanks for replying. Yes, these are the hardest classes offered at my school.

Biggie_Smalls- Most kids in my school are in Agriscience classes, and taking just the bare minimum. Most students who graduate from my school do not go on to a 4 year uni/college, instead they enter the workforce.

Secret Asian Man- Thank you for your input.

runningwriter- By CC standards, nearly everyone, even the so-called “smart” kids are considered pathetic. I was just suprised when I began posting all the negative feedback I got. I figured that people would be more understanding of my situation & be willing to help, but instead a few people were just plain harsh.

how long are your classes?

wheex- 90 minutes.
