Okay so I heard so many stories about how hard Junior Year is and I'm kind of getting scared.

So should I cut AP Psychology from my schedule to make things easier?

I heard AP Psych was like the easiest AP course but I also heard that a student should only take up to 3 APs at a time and I'm taking 4. I ALSO heard that AP Biology was really hard and time comsuming.

BUT I really want to go for the AP Scholoar with Distinction Award. And that requires 5 APs and I already took AP US History last year which I think I got a 5 on but havent go my scores because we moved homes. But it wasn't too hard just a little time consuming but I felt like I couldnt handled at least one more AP. But that was my only AP class and now I have 4.

I want to take the rest of the APs because I want to be an engineering major and maybe business mine and the colleges I want to go to give you AP credit for those three but not AP Psych unless it's in your minor.

SO should I just stick it out and take AP Psychology because it's not that hard of an AP class??

Both AP psychology and AP microeconomics are equivalent to at most a semester long introductory level college course, so one should consider year-long courses in those AP subjects to be less difficult than the actual college courses.

Go ahead and take AP Psych. It is interesting and not all that hard. Junior year is not difficult, it is just importnat. Just ensure that you manage your time well. Best of lucl!

So many are saying take psych. Personally I wish that, as a potential engineering kid, you were more focused on prepping to apply for that major and less on some AP award. AP scores are important, but one should choose wisely. And, I hope you are into STEM activities in hs.

^^^Well I’m taking AP Biology and I already took honors biology and honors chemistry. I’m taking honors Precalculus and will take AP Calculus AB probably next year along with AP Chemistry. And next summer I plan on taking Computer Programming at a community college. I think that is enough STEM course for me because you need to remember that to be an engineer I must actually do WELL in these so I don’t want to overwhelm myself. However I do want a full schedule junior year since I can’t even take AP calculus if I wanted to because the prerequisite is Precalculus an if I took AP Chem I would be way too overwhelmed because AP Chem is the hardest course, so that’s why I’m even choosing AP Psych.

So I hope you understand why my schedule looks like this eventhough i am planning to be an engineering major. But remember I want to be a business minor hence the AP Microeconomics and I can get college credit for that too.

The only AP course I won’t be taking that is STEM is AP Physics and I can’t fit it in my schedule because I don’t want to overwhelm myself with AP sciences. I’m only trying to ensure that my grades are quality.

And year I’m in science olympiad and robotics and we compete and stuff. And I’m looking for an engineering internship or shadowing…

Bottom line: for engineering at S or C, taking AP physics matters far more than psych. So does AP calc. I believe you are trying to make the best decisions you can. Try not to see this as potentially overwhelming- think of it as prep for a rigorous major at a top school.

I’m taking AP Calc next year but idk if I will take AP Physics, I’ll have to decide by next year I guess but I’ll take AP Psychology this year since I can’t take AP Calc or AP Physics untill next year anyways
