Hi,
This is my schedule for next year:
AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
AP Computer Science
AP English
AP Physics I
AP US History
Is this too much to take junior year along with SATs, SAT IIs, ACTs, PSATs, and extracurriculars?
I took Honors English, Honors Biology, Honors Precalc/Trig, Honors Spanish III, and AP World in freshman year and AP Calc AB, AP Biology, AP Human Geo, Honors Chem, Honors English, IB Spanish I, and Comp Sci in sophomore year. Each year I maintained a 4.0 GPA and got 4s and 5s on the AP tests while having sufficient amount of free time, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this junior year.
I’m planning to go into premedicine (hopefully a BS/MD program).
Thanks!
Depends on how difficult your school is. I took a similar schedule during my junior and senior years and managed to get really good grades only because grading at my high school was extremely easy. I would recommend that you estimate your workload by extrapolating the workload you had in previous AP classes. Also take into account what older students say about various teachers/courses. Don’t worry about the SATs, etc. If you absolutely don’t have time, you can always take them senior year.
Taking a rigorous schedule is worth it if you can do well. Just make sure to have some free time because high school shouldn’t be all about work.
Thanks for your advice! In my school not many people take AP Chem and AP Physics 1 together because of how difficult each class is, so I’m kind of nervous about that. However I have to take AP Physics 1 junior year so I can take AP Physics C senior year for potential college credit.
