I’m debating between two options:
AP Biology
AP Lang
AP Micro (1 semester)
AP Macro (1 semester)
Honors Precalc
Art or some other class
Is this doable? It’s my first time taking AP classes since we’re not allowed in our 9th and 10th grade years. I’ve taken all honors my sophomore year and did well. For senior year (with this schedule):
AP Calc
AP Physics
AP Lit
AP Govt (one semester)
Sociology
As of now, I have 3 credits of English since I’ve taken Honors English 9, 10, and 11. Should I take one more year of English or just follow the AP sequence of Lang/Lit for my junior and senior years?
Given that every school differs when it comes to AP Courses, from my experience (and others’), I believe you will be fine with that schedule. With Pre-Calc being an honors class and Micro and Macro being “combined” into a year long AP Course, you’ll have 3 APs, an Honors, class, and a less strenuous class like art, it’ll be a good challenge that you need. I also think you should go ahead and take that 4th year of English, as most colleges I’m looking at seem to recommend that. Keep in mind that I’m a rising senior, so this advice is from my experience and what I’ve read on CC. Good luck!
@WHSTrojan Thanks! I’m already required to take 4 years of English, so do you think I should take AP Lit for junior year and not take any for senior year? Or just take AP Lang for 11th grade and AP Lit for 12th?
@preciousdiamond Ohh okay sorry I think I misunderstood you the first time around - hmm, if I were in your shoes I would take Lang junior year and Lit senior year. At the same time, I enjoy English, so it wouldn’t be a big decision for me, unless those classes got in the way of something else. I think that the credits that you may get for English Lang and Lit will help you in college, so perhaps take that into consideration. Also, Lang may help improve your writing skills more than Lit, which you’ll want to fine tune in time for college essays and whatnot. So I think I would recommend AP Lang as a junior. Taking English as a senior is up to you, although I still think it’s best to continue that path.
