I am helping a good friend of mine start coming up with his college list but we are having a bit of an issue.

He struggled a little his sophomore year, getting a D in honors chem (weighted to a 3.0) and a D in Spanish 2. Its not that he isn't smart, he just struggled in those two subjects. His GPA at the end of his sophomore year was a 3.0 weighted. He has taken almost all honors (Just standard Biology, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2, and Health) and he has 1 AP, AP Psych. So thats 10 honors, 4 standard, and 1 AP. He tests pretty well getting a 29 on his ACT first try with no prep, so that will most likely rise.

His GPA will also most likely rise his junior and senior year as he is taking classes which he should do well in.

Financial Aid isn't really an issue, as his family could pay if needed, but obviously if its possible they would want it.

He is very against going to community college.

What do you guys think? Any schools in mind? He would prefer something in the southeast (Lives in North Carolina), but location doesnt matter too much.
