Junior Year Struggle - Chances?

I'm happy I found this site :) But looking at some of the stats here I'm a bit worried. I moved to a new country right before my junior year and my GPA really suffered as a result of moving countries and schools. My grades in 9th and 10th grade were average, a slew of mostly As and some Bs but then in 11th grade I got a few Cs. My GPA as a result has been really hurt by this year. Here are my stats:

SAT: 2150 (710-V, 770-M, 670-W) <only took="" it="" once,="" not="" looking="" to="" retake="">
PSAT: 211
SAT IIs: none yet. i don't want to predict scores but i know they won't be terrible.
ACT: not yet</only>

GPA: cumulative: 3.5 BUT junior year: 3.3

ECs:
Have travelled overseas to represent my school in the following at least once (my main ECs):
Tennis (3 years), Cross Country (3 years), MUN (3 years), Violin (played for 9 years)

Others: Key Club (Vice President), Student Council (10th grade only), Earth Club and other random stuff I probably won't write down.

Volunteer Work:
- Travelled one summer to a jungle tribe in Malaysia where I helped them collect + catalogue plants that had medicinal purposes (to bring back to a biodiversity lab so they could find its uses for other diseases)
- Spent a month volunteering at a deaf school (an interest of mine, something I will probably write about)
- Random stuff from Key Club

Work Experience:
- Interned at a top law firm one summer
- Interned at a newspaper one summer (I got a front page story by the end :))

Recs:
- Counsellor = good. She's told me she will try and justify my drop in GPA.
- Teachers = 1 will be stunning, 1 will be positive, but not amazing

Me:
- International, spent most of my time in Asia/ Australia
- My dad is an ambassador so have moved around lots and to 12 schools in my life (can probably play this up?)

Other Important Stuff:
- I do the full IB diploma, hardest course load possible. By the time I apply I will already have 2 IB exams done (Math and Chem) and I was predicted a 7 and 6 for these.
- My essays will be good, I can write well.
- I currently go to a (private) international school, with an American curriculum. It is hard to say how many people we get into top schools because everyone goes off to different countries, but we get at least a couple of ivies every year.

um I think that's all. I know my stats are weak, especially my GPA. I will have to explain the drop and I know my new counsellor will try to explain but the point is that there was still a huge drop in my junior year.

Schools I want to apply to:
- Bryn Mawr
- Mount Holyoke
- Dickinson
- Smith
- Wellesley
- Middlebury

Please please chance me? I need to know if going to the US is even a feasible option given my stats. The reason I have no safeties on the list is that my "safety" is Australia (cheaper + closer). But I really really want to go to the US.

Thanks in advance :)

I don't know much about those schools, but I know Middleberry is one hell of a school and probally a reach. I would still apply though because you never know.

^ Those schools are more or less the same level. But I think you've got a great shot at Bryn Mawr/Wellesley/Smith/Mt. Holyoke.

Thanks to ses for the encouragement :) and tyler, I know Middlebury will be a far reach, but it's okay because I'm more set on the women's colleges anyway. Does anyone else have an opinion about my chances? I probably won't be asking for financial aid, if that makes a difference.

Ok, well if you are interested in woman's colleges, I think Wellesley is the best out there. Also, if you are looking for a safety college in the south, there is an all woman's college named Meredith in Raleigh, North Carolina that some good students from my school go to.

Bump!! Please, anyone else. I really need to know what my chances are, realistically. I really actually don't have a clue. Please help!

There are better second tier womens colleges out there than Meredith, which I've never heard of. They admit 94% of their applicants, by the way. You can aim WAY higher than that.

hey, hippogriff! it looks like its been a while since you were on this board, but just in case you check it every so often, i just wanted to let you know that i've revived the bryn mawr thread! you should come over there and check it out! (under colleges and universities-->best LAC's) we can talk to you about chances and stats, and US colleges and everything!
