Junior year

I can only take 9 classes, but with labs, I need at least one study hall.

AP Bio
AP Chem
Physics Honors
English 11 honors
AP Calc BC
French 4 honors
AP Euro
AP Stats
AP Art History

Obviously I need to take Physics, English, Calc, Euro, and French. But what extra AP should I change?

Your life is gonna suck if you take that schedule.

Thanks… but as helpful as that was, I would like if someone would give me an opinion that pertains to the question I asked.

No one can give you the best answer but yourself. It all depends on what you enjoy to do. Pick the one you like most. alwaysleah has a point though, you don’t want to overload yourself. There are other things besides difficult classes that you may want to do during junior year.

Do you mean which AP you shouldn’t take? If you had to get rid of an AP, you should get rid of AP Art history, but if it’s your passion then you should take it. Overall, I think your schedule is very rigorous.

This is being helpful: There is no reason to take 6 APs. You won’t have time to do anything meaningful with your life. Why are you taking so many APs? To get into a top college? Well you need to have solid ECs too, and there’s no way you’ll have time for anything other than studying if you try to get good grades with that schedule, unless you go to a really easy school or something.

Do AP Stat or AP Art History or AP Psych, if offered. You need to have balance in your life.

Yes, you should have time for ECs too. But, if you can handle 6 Aps and you have taken APs, then you could try it. Remember to have enough APs to take senior year too…

I would say Art History. It is the least likely AP Test to get credit in College. But as a side note, alwaysleah is right. It’s possible to do well, but hard to juggle with extracurricular activities and a social life.

Yes, I mean what AP I shouldn’t take.
To the people who say AP Art History- That’s what I was thinking because, to be honest, I’m not in particular passionate about art. But almost everything I do outside of school is related to science, I don’t want to seem like I’m only good in one area. A 5 on the art AP exam could maybe demonstrate that I have other talents?

and PS:
I do a lot of other things besides schoolwork, but whether it’s related to school or not, they’re things I enjoy. So please don’t go on about this crisis that will apparently hit me next year; I get what I’m doing.

Take out AP Bio or AP Chem. There’s no reason to take 3 science classes in one year.

I don’t think you get what you’re doing. I didn’t grasp the difficulty of junior year until I was in the middle of it. It’s unbelievably stressful. But if you refuse to believe that and put yourself in a difficult situation, that’s your choice.

I think you should show your talents by taking unique ECs rather than taking different APs. What I mean is that instead of taking AP art history, you could take and EC that’s different from the sciences.

^I like this idea. Junior year is stressful. You’ve got standardized tests (SAT, ACT, SAT IIs…), AP tests, ask for teacher recs, and start looking at colleges. Honestly an extra AP will not significantly impact your admissions to any college.

I’ve always wondered how people are able to take so many classes. I know some people are able to swap lunch or study hall for an extra class and that’s how they get 7 or maybe 8, but 9? How the hell…? My school has 6 periods, no more.

So I’m only going to respond to the first part of your message, alwaysleah.
I considered taking out a science, too, but as I said before: a good portion of my extracurriculars are science-related, mainly because it’s my favorite subject. I don’t want it to look weird that I’m doing research at a university but my schedule doesn’t show a lot of science. Since I like science the most, the programs I apply to outside of school will be related to that area, and I want to meet all the requirements/class rigor of the other applicants.

I’m way other-thinking this but, fj2943hg3wig s I don’t know. I don’t want to mess up and then ruin my future (maybe a little dramatic).

And yeah I had to drop lunch, haha, that part does suck…

If you give up lunch, when do you eat?

In class, most teachers are okay with it. I do that now anyway because I still get hungry during the other 6 and 1/2 hours I’m there. Won’t be much different…

Oh…okay. I didn’t know you could do that…

Okay, I understand now. Obviously taking two honors/AP science classes isn’t enough to show interest.

Not sure why you posted here since you aren’t really open to suggestions. I’m literally trying to give you advice. I’m taking 4 APs and DYING. And no, I’m not an idiot. I’m at the top of my class. I’m burning out like no other right now. Not only do I have a difficult course load, I also have to study for the SAT, SAT 2’s, the ACT, and apply to summer programs. And do EC’s. But if you would like to reply snidely, go right ahead.

DO NOT TAKE AP BIO ON TOP OF ALL THAT. Actually, don’t take AP Bio and don’t take Art History, as fascinating as the subject is. If you take it in college, you’ll have more free time to do all the work (and there’s a lot, unless it’s a cake class at your school) AND you’ll be surrounded by hot chicks.
