hey, the juniors who are about to enter the realm of death, post your current list of safeties, matches and reaches

happyjanezhang:
safeties: University of Alberta
matches: McGill, Toronto, QueenslandU(Australia), Wake Forest
reaches: Columbia
still looking into: a few LACS

Safeties: Ohio State, USC, Case Western (might not apply here though)
Matches: Michigan, Northwestern, Washington University in St. Louis
Reaches: Stanford, Columbia, MIT, Princeton

I don't have a "match" yet because I'm still narrowing down exactly what I want. Do I want to kill myself with work? Do I want to cruise through, have some fun? hmmmm

You asked, I answered. I answered based on the people I've seen get into these places, and I answered based on my stats. Nonetheless, Columbia may be more of a "match," but from what I've seen/heard, I'm pretty much in. I'm not really interested, however, in the school itself - I just like the location (who doesn't, right?).

cornerstones, I've seen some rather underserving people get into places like Columbia, and I've seen a lot of people who could have gotten in who didn't. IMHO, unless you are nationally recognized for something or have very generous connections, you can never say you are 100% guaranteed to Columbia.

Btw I define a match as a school whose average quantitative stats (GPA, SATs, etc) fit mine, as opposed to defining it as a school that I will probably get into.
