alright, so I’m relatively new to the CC community, and in the past month i have discovered SO MUCH from you fellow CC’ers. THanks!!!

I come from a public school where only a few (4-5) kids pass A.P. exams each year (3’s and 4’s), and im not to sure how i did on my tests this year (European, Biology, & English Language).

With that said i really want to finish high school off with a “bang” if you know what i mean…
HAHAH

ok, my schedule for next year:
A.P. Calculus A/B (my school doesn’t offer B/C)
A.P. English Literature
A.P. Physics B (again my school doesn’t have C)
A.P. Macro/Mico Economics
A.P. Art History

People at my school think my schedule is “suicide” but compared to some CC’ers out there this is nothing! I am considering self studying an A.P. next year, which NO ONE in my school does or even thinks about. I repeat NO ONE! I’m debating between Psychology, Environmental Science, and Human Geography (my school does not offer any).

I am not trying to “pad” my application, i really want to learn more. With that said I’m really interested in human geography, but i dont think any high school on my island, I wonder what state i’m from? hmmmm… offers the class. I dont mind studying for pscyh or environmental, its just Human Geo is my first choice.

How do i find out what schools offer what tests? (I’m unsure how my counselor/Ap Coordinator will react toward my decision to self study, so im trying to figure out everything about self studying). Do i call or email the collegeboard about this?

How did you self study? Did you actually purchase the textbook or did you rely strictly on prep books (Kaplan, Princeton, Barrons, etc)?

Please help me guys… I want to make the most out of our Senior year. C/O 2012!!!

Self-study whatever you want, as long as you have the time (which may range from a couple days to the school year). But be aware that many selective colleges don’t offer credit for Human Geography or Environmental Science. Contact your AP coordinator (or counselor if they’re the same person) first, and if you can’t get them to order an AP exam for you, contact CollegeBoard. I think they can find you contact information for AP coordinators at nearby schools.

For some (if not all) subjects, you can rely solely on the prep book and past FRQs provided by CB on [AP Central](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board). This worked for me on Psych, Comp Sci, Physics C: E&M, and Lang (yes, I self-studied all of those), so I’m guessing that this should work for whatever you want to self-study. You can also use a textbook if you want to go more in-depth or get more practice problems, etc. but if you’re short on time, a prep book will usually suffice. (I heard APES was pretty challenging this year, though…)

Next year I will be taking:

AP Calculus BC
AP Psychology
AP English Literature
AP U.S. Government
AP Spanish Language
AP Chemistry

So far, I’ve taken AP World, AP US History, AP Biology, and AP English Language.

My school doesn’t offer much as far as AP Courses go, and as a student I was not allowed to take more than one AP class my sophomore year.
