Hey, any juniors out there really stressing over college at the moment? Obviously we here are all thinking about it since we're in CC, but I feel like the moment I took the PSAT, I stopped really caring. I mean, I'm concerned, but not on the 'oh-my-God-my-life-will-be-over-if-I-don't-get-a-full-ride-to-an-Ivy' panic level I was feeling throughout the summer and into September. I haven't done an SAT QotD in a month, and I just chuck out all the college mail I get. Anybody actually being proactive about college as we pass the quarter mark?

I’m just waiting to see if I got NMSF and doing a few SAT practice tests. Nothing beyond that.

You’re juniors… you really don’t need to care THAT much other than starting to think about what kind of college you want to go to and maybe starting to visit them so that you can get an idea. Other than that, just try to survive junior year and all the testing and mentally prepare yourself for the onslaught of senior year.

lol The only college-related stuff you guys should seriously be doing is looking at which ones interest you.

Relax and just focus on getting through junior year. College stuff will come near the end of the school year.

I haven’t worried about MIT since about august.

I mean yeah, I want to go to a good school… but I’ve got time. College has its place.

I know where I’m applying.

Yeah - I’m pretty chill on the whole college thing right now (noticeable, since I just used the word chill). But I go to such an awful high school that it’s hard to tell when I’m being a little too carefree. One mention of going to college and people ask me what my problem is. But I went to some info sessions for Yale and UChicago, and everyone there knew exactly how they were gonna live every second of their lives until September 2012. Kinda scary. :/

I’m pretty much done with the college searching, so I’m not too stressed there. I think we’ll be visiting in the spring.

I don’t plan on brushing up on SAT practice until Thanksgiving/Winter break. I’ve already taken it twice, so I’m hoping the January test will be my last.

So there’s not too much stress on that front. I’m worrying mainly about balancing the extracurriculars with my courses.

hahha oh my god my mom thinks i’m gonna turn out to be some kind of beggar in nyc because i haven’t done a practice SAT in more than 2 weeks. im also just waiting to see how i did on my PSATs to get in my full worry mode about my future. im taking the SATs in december just to see how i do, and im taking an SAT II- Korean this weekend but that’s nbd. I feel sooo behind.

Wow, you’ve already taken the SAT twice? My first real (non-JHUCTY) one is in January!

Well I took it once in 9th grade and once in 10th. I’m glad I started earlier. I didn’t want to spend all of junior year stressing about taking it multiple times. I would’ve probably done worse. And that’s cool. I have a friend who took in middle school for CTY too.

isn’t cty ssat?

^not in 7th and 8th grade.

Before that I think it is.

CTY uses the SAT or ACT for 7th and 8th graders. If I include that, I’ve taken 2 SAT tests as well as 2 subject tests.

Um. Kind of on the bleh side for college. As others advised, I’m just trying to survive Junior year right now.

I haven’t done too much college stuff since last spring break and summer but I still occasionally go to college info sessions when they come to my high school. I’ve also finished my SAT I and taken one subject test (Math 2). For now, I am just concentrating on getting through this year and doing well in school and extracurriculars. I’m a Chemistry Olympiad Hopeful. :)
