MIT, CalTech, U-Chicago all offer EA; isnt it great to apply to 3 schools early? :)

I'm torn between Penn Wharton and Penn College ED

Georgetown, too.

I made an Excel spreadsheet of colleges I'm interested in. All my friends think I'm really neurotic.

Here's a screencap of it. I guess I am compulsively organized. ;)

Wow that is really cool! I would totally do something like that, and my friends would definitely call me neurotic as well. Heck, they already do: I have a college review guide and I bookmarked all the ones I'm interested in and organized the location of the bookmark on the page based on my interest level in the school. I give you props for being so organized in your college search.

As of now, Northeastern is my first choice. It's not too far from home, it is not too close to home, has a 6-year pharmacy program, in Boston, no specific reputation (too nerdy, too liberal, too conservative, too party-ish, too snobby-ish), but I have yet to visit. I'm going to be commended and have not taken the SATs yet, but I am currently taking a class and will sign up to take them on May 6th.

I feel like somewhat of an underachiever on this thread, lol.

JTC007,

The "Interest level" column has a story of its own. The default level for any given school is a 4, because if it's on the list it obviously means I'm interested, but I don't feel that I can reasonably give a perfect score until I've visited. From that 4, I take points off for various subjective factors: absence of males (Bryn Mawr, Wellesley), being in the middle of Iowa and having nothing to do but drink (Grinnell), restrictiveness of curriculum and the fact that I've no chance of ever possibly getting in (MIT). Penn gets a 0 because I visited and hated it, but stays on the list because I visited and need to keep track of it.

I must say I like your system, too, though! :)

thisyearsgirl...you are nuts, but i guess in a good way?

Ahhhh, I just want to send in the apps and just get them over with!

When do schools start putting up the applications for the next school year on their sites?

I'll probably start doing all of my rolling applications over the summer so I can get them in and concentrate on my other ones after that.

thisyearsgirl - I cross off all girl schools off my [imaginary] list.

thisyearsgirl LOL so did I. But I put different things. I put the median SAT score, if it had ED or EA, common app. or their own, and the tuition cost. Every so often I review it and add or eliminate colleges, this way when I'm a senior I'll have economized at least a months time where we just meet with our counselor to view college options.

LOL megaman--I'm glad it's not just me. I didn't list tuition cost because I'll be applying for financial aid, which means that the "sticker price" means next to nothing if considered separately from the aid package.

The "WIS admit rate", by the way, is the percentage of kids from my high school who have been admitted over the past five years, based on Naviance data. The "reach/match/safety" categories are extrapolated from the general admit rate, the WIS admit rate, and average stats of admitted students of my school (again, based on Naviance data). ED/EA is a good category... I'll have to add a column for that, I think. ;)

oh great. well, not me tho. my sisters a junior and she's faaaar from being ready. she's too busy keeping her gpa straight (with all the ap classes she's dying!) that she doesn't have a chance to take a look at the colleges...

maybe I should start a spreadsheet like you guys too. :)

I have like three or four spreadsheets in random folders throughout my C drive. I need to combine them into one superspreadsheet.

I'll represent those of us who are, shall we say, less than perfectly prepared? 16 colleges on the list and having serious trouble narrowing it down. At all. sigh

I'm starting from 117. Only another 109 or so to eliminate!!!

Applying to Harvard EA.
First choice: Penn Huntsman.
Others: Chicago, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, Tufts.

My first choice is Amherst and my second is Vassar, but I definitely need to get my SATs up to have a decent shot (from a 1990, 540 math!!). I'm in a bit of a sticky financial situation, though, so I may have to reconsider. Ultimately, I want to apply ED to Amherst and major in law, jurisprudence, and social thought. I'm worried I'm a little too focused on this....

savoirfaire....why wouldn't you apply to Penn ED? Would you rather boost your chances to Harvard? Or do you not want to make the committment (financial or otherwise) ED requires?
