juniors: what is your first choice at this point?

I was just wondering what is everyone's first choice school at this point in the process? No more than 2 tied for first.

Brown
Case Western

okay your turn:

Stanford!!!

Duke

But realistically, my first choices are Chicago and UNC Chapel-Hill (in-state, so the latter is almost a safety for me as well)

pouts why do some states get awesome public schools and the rest of us get screwed over

Well, Wisconsin and Michigan are two schools that don't have nearly as much of a difference between the standards for OOS and in-state students. Carolina is brutal to OOS students, more selective percentage-wise than Berk is to OOS students.

heh, no freakn' clue. I don't think I'll really be able to go anywhere I want to go - my GPA is going to kill me - no matter what I do, the highest I can get it before I graduate is 3.4. But my dad has already said I go to American U ( hahaha, never going to get in) or the local community college, Sinclair. CC, here I come fall 2006.

celebrian25...If you like Brown, you might be interested in Oberlin College in your home state. I'd say they're pretty similar politically and socially. It's private (and costly!) but provides a well rounded liberal arts education for the artsy, offbeat, creative person.

ah I am well aware of the lovely oberlin. I wish the publics were better mostly. I think ohio has quite a few good privates, especially LACs

OMG oneiros lykos8...the highest GPA I can get by the end of senior year is also a 3.4 because I screwed up in 11th grade (see: "What are my chances ANYWHERE?!" thread). Montgomery County CC is in the stars for me, lol :)
I was just like you this time last year--I had no idea where I wanted to go and my parents were prodding me to start looking!

does anyone else think cc is getting more non-elite friendly? My gpa is relatively high, but that's because my school is crap (read: my rank is going to kill me).

Cornell. not sure if I can get in, but giving it a shot. who knows?

Sure CC is getting more non-elite friendly. I thought I would get completely shot down when I posted my stats (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=31412%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=31412</a>) , but actually, everyone who responded was really warm and encouraging. Someone even said my 1350 SAT was pretty high, even though it's probably like the 2nd %ile at CC. And I've seen more and more people with sub-1400 scores, which is heartening.

My first choice at this point is definitely Dartmouth. However, I doubt I'll get in so my second choices are Weselyan, Haverford, Middlebury, and like 10 other schools. Yeahh

MIT, not that i'd get in.

CC is definitely getting more non-elite friendly.

My top choice is Clemson, I think. Maybe Auburn.

But I'll be attending the school that gives me the most aid/scholarships, which will likely be KU.

Oh, and I messed up so badly that it may or may not be possible for me to hit a 3.0 weighted when I graduate.

I've learned the hard way that there's more to life than selective colleges.

Northwestern ... i think (:-P)

Oh, thank you people who did in fact mess up at one point of your high school career!!! I bow down.

Heck, I messed up a thousand times.

I think it might be the universe's little way of keeping me at KU so that I can get football tickets when Mangino finishes pulling the program out of the gutter. Blue wings rising, donchaknow.

haha, and my universe is definitely still spinning, where it will point, no one knows!

For all interested ice skaters looking for a good college to skate at in the greater Boston area, Brandeis University is now fielding a synchronized skating team. We are trying to make it an intercollegiate team with some skaters from Simmons College, in addition to any skaters from Wellesley. If you are interested in skating for an excellent university, please feel free to contact me, or reply back to this post. I can give you more information if you are interested. Don't pass up this opportunity!
