juniors: what is your first choice at this point?

I can't have a first choice cuz i have yet to decide on a major (one of the possibilities is pharmacy, so that limits my options)
anyway, if i major in pre-pharm, i'm lookin at either UNC - CH or um...drawing a blank...maybe U of Michigan.
Right now I'm leaning toward majoring in econ, and if i do that, my top choice is UPenn, then in second place i'm thinking maybe duke u.

At this point in time (it changes depending on my mood and which admin booklet I look at first haha):
McGill! (I'm from Canada so...)
I've visited it three times and LOVE Montreal, McGill, the programs, the rez, almost everything. The only downside is that it is bigger than my other choices (Queen's, Ottawa, King's College/Dal or Victoria), and I'd rather be a name than a number.
We'll see next year...

Hey cowgirlatheart. I'm Canadian too. My first choice right now is Ottawa. I love Montreal as well but not as much as Ottawa.

Daughter's first choice is Davidson.

My daughter's current first choice is Lewis & Clark. Other schools on her list: Goucher, Earlham, Beloit.

golfshots82: I would think long and hard about going into pharmacy, unless your goal is to do research or to own your own store or maybe to get a MBA and go into management. I have been a pharmacist for a long time, and there is an enormous amount of discontent in the profession. It really depends on what you want. May I suggest that you shadow a retail and a hospital pharmacist before you make this decision? Pharmacy is not what most people think, nor what they are trained to do.

I have found my one true love... Cornell.

lkf: Thanks for the input, the more research that I have done on pharmacy, the more I realize that it is not all that it seems. My main reason for being interested in pharmacy was that I enjoy chemistry and the chemistry related work, but it seems that there is less chemistry associated with actually being a pharmacist than I believed. So, like I said, I'm currently leaning more towards economics and then maybe going to law school.

Penn is my first choice... but I don't know how much of a shot I have with a 3.5 GPA.

Second choices are NYU, U Michigan and a few others... if all else fails, SUNY Binghamton.

stanford is my first choice and I will be applying early action, but i don't exactly plan on getting in

berkeley is a more realistic match for me, and seeing that im in-state and my school sends about 70 a year there, I think its more of a safety/match

Hmm UCB or UCLA maybe. I might just go to my state uni (UWash) because of price and because I heard that UW Med School likes its own graduates. (Plus, I haven't take the SAT and SAT IIs yet; we'll see what my options are in a few months.)

I'm going to apply to UCs (I moved from Cali) and Cal Poly SLO.

Once I visit Whitman, I'll decide whether or not I like LACs and my list might change.

For me, either Rice U or McGill!!

golfshots82: Good plan with econ and law. I also liked chem and bio, and years ago pharmacy was more "hands on". Today, the average dispensing RPh does alot of computer data entry, evaluating drug regimens, and checking technicians' work. Not much chem or bio, UNLESS you go to work for a drug company in formulating new products, etc. Not to bash the profession, but I find many new graduates disappointed in their jobs because they are (over)trained to do clinical work, and frankly most of the jobs NOT clinical or research oriented. Well, GOOD LUCK!

the old PR people were better than you guys, sorry.

MIT, but I doubt I'd get in.

I would have to say MIT as well, but its a reach :)

My first choice is UPENN....let's hope I can get into it..lol

Where do you go high school?

before i was absolutely obsessed with stanford and getting off the east coast, but then i realized that i cant shun my north east upbringing and i fell in love with princeton. literally. i love it. but then again my obsessions are fleeting so who knows how thisll go.

Unfortunately, unlike the rest of these kids, I can't say I go to a top high school or blah, I'm just go to a small town high school, in Virginia, about 600 kids and there are about 140 students in my grade, which sucks since I'm in the 20's when it comes to rank.
