CAN I STILL GET IN WITHOUT A LIKELY LETTER?

I know its kinda stupid to ask this just a few days before admission desicions but I won't even check my desicion if it is impossible to get in without a likely.

Likely letters are rare, so just chill.

With a 2350, and from an international at that, you have nothing to worry about. Just calm down and take a deep breath, its all over in a few days.

Agreed. I feel like you have very good chances, certainly better than mine.

Good chances, although this year it though.

"With a 2350, and from an international at that,"

This doesn't make much sense, it's harder to get in if you're international and lots of international applicants have high scores.

CAN I STILL GET IN WITHOUT A LIKELY LETTER?

The vast majority of accepted students do, ya know.

No point in chance threads now...just wait it out.

"but I won't even check my desicion if it is impossible to get in without a likely."

it's impossible.

Did you even stop to ask yourself what would be the point of delaying the decision date if only ppl with likely letters were going to be let in anyways?

Dude no way, I did CTY Princeton Global Politics and Justice in 2006 as well...

"I know its kinda stupid to ask this just a few days before admission desicions but I won't even check my desicion if it is impossible to get in without a likely."

I guess there's still time to withdraw your application if you didn't get a likely letter :D

I was just overreacting and exaggerating a bit i guess. Sorry for the stupid post. I was kinda worried that hundreds of ppl got likelies here in CC. Honestly, I kinda felt angry cuz Columbia is definitely one of the schools that I would looove to attend.

P.S I know you John. You were with Farzad at princeton right? How are you doin dude

josuechapin: CC is very far from representative of the applicant pool of most schools. The majority of the people here are probably within the top 10% of applications Columbia gets, so seeing 4 or 5 likely letter posts here does not mean that 400-500 likely letters went out.

Just relax; read a book, go to a movie, hang out with friends. You shouldn't be stressing out! It's the second semester of your senior year!

I ought to give mike a reward for smartest fella.
People who post their stats here are only a few from the ENTIRE applicant pool. We all have a better shot than we think.
Good luck all, I'm not stressing this anymore.
Thanks mike

if you are an international applicant (non-pr/citizen) I think the most important question is.. did you apply for financial aid?

Yeah I was with Farzad, and then me JJ, Roger, Juan, Jeff and someone else all got kicked out...that was a sucky way to end it, but yeah who was your RA? I'm still trying to figure out who you are.

Im Korea!!! I was Shakir's roommate remember?? I was also with Farzad.

Ahhh that's crazy, yeah I remember you, maybe we'll both end up at Columbia next year? I don't have nearly as impressive stats as you but my dad, two uncles, and two aunts all went to Columbia, so we'll see what happens.

... you're depending on legacy to hook you in?

And a 34 ACT, stellar recs, good grades etc...

Hey, johnny, weren't you going "**** **** ****" all over the Lib Arts fora?

Good luck.

gotcha. i thought for a sec you were another one of those pathetic rich kids who ends up getting into a top-tiered school by having legacy and stats not all that impressive (not that legacies don't get denied), which, to me, is quite exasperating.
