Just a few questions/concerns

Hi I’m hoping to receive some help/advice on a couple of things.

  1. I'm an accounting major and have been interviewing for internships for next spring. I already have 2 office visits with some pretty good firms in May and hopefully another firm will want me to visit next month too. The one place I want to work the most has been talking with me a lot. The recruiter invited me to this summer leaders' conference thing and had me meet one of their auditors who I text with. One of my friends/fellow students is interning with them now and says they really want me (I don't really consider this noteworthy but it's something). Some of the staff I talked with explained that the office visit is a 2-day thing where the first day is like dinner and events with all the other candidates (like 50 others) and the next day is the interviews. How can I maximize my chances of receiving an offer? The recruiter and even the recruiting partner know me pretty well already but how can I stand out?
  2. I want a summer internship at this insurance place but I messed it up...apparently. The recruiter scheduled to interview this past Friday in the morning but I emailed him (same day he emailed me about the interview) and told him I was taking my GMAT and wouldn't be available until the afternoon. He then apparently rescheduled our interview for 3 PM and had a guy come in on his off-day to interview...but he never emailed or called to tell me he had rescheduled. So he called at 3:15 PM asking where I was and sounded kinda pissy that I didn't know I had an interview. He said "he'd take the hit" for the misunderstanding and now I'm interviewing tomorrow at 3 instead. Will this ruin my chances of getting the internship? Do I apologize even though I honestly don't think I did anything? Do I need to do anything special?

Thank you for any advice.

I’m not in accounting, so I can’t help with 1. I wouldn’t worry too much about 2. I might apologize for not following up with the recruiter about when the interview had been rescheduled. It might not be your fault, but you’re the one looking for the job.
