So the count down begins. There's a little more than a month before I hit campus and my parents are telling me to find a job, and "prepare" for college. How does someone even prepare for college? I've heard advice about packing and whatnot, but that could surely be done in less than a month unless you are bringing your room with you. I guess what i'm trying to ask is do you think it's reasonable to learn all the functions on microsoft word, excel, and power point before college because that's what my parents are telling me to do besides finding a job that I'd probably work for a month. i think it's all a complete waste of time and that i'll just learn as i get though college. anyone else got some crazy parents or am I wrong.

the best thing you can do to prepare is to get off CC and relax. its not that big of a deal to be 100% prepared. In fact, just take the things you will definitely need. you dont need your entire room.

Dont worry about learing every single detail about Microsoft office. Learn it as you need it. Just relax it will be fine

a HUGE part of college is trial-and-error kind of stuff. there are a lot of things that can only be learned in the moment, by having the experience. don’t worry about it for now. Just set yourself up for success by learning about the resources on campus that can help you once you get there.

I agree, best thing to do now is relax and hang-out with your high school friends.

-If you’re going to college away from home like in another state, you could research the location. See fun things to do there and other activities of your interest.

-Read reviews of current students about the college. See what things they loved the most about attending that specific college.

As for Microsoft Office and the like, ‘College is a place of learning!’ There will be plenty that you won’t know now and you will be taught while in college. That being said, have an awesome freshman year!

tell that to my mom unless learning about the resources on campus includes excel, powerpoint, word etc. to which i wouldn’t like the answer. now i think i have some excelling, powerpointing, and wording to do.
