Just a question about caltech

I noticed on the caltech website they says they want 1 year of physics? How stringent is that requirement? is it possible to get by without meeting it? somewhere along the way in high school i decided to focus more on chemistry, so now i am in the process of taking my 2nd year of chem, and i did not have enough time for physics in my schedule. Should i even bother applying (im thinking of trying for EA)
Thanks in advance

It would probably be best to post this on the Caltech board... there are several current Caltech students who post on that board, including Ben Golub, who has been (and I believe still is) a student member of Caltech's admissions comittee.

Do they say "want/recommended" or "require"? If it says require then it looks like you have to have it.

IIRC, caltech REQUIRES physics. they also say you should not apply EA if you haven't finished calc (probably BC) and physics by the beginning of senior year.

btw, you have 2 yrs chem (like many people), 1yr bio I'm assuming, where did you waste a year?

if you want to be able to apply to caltech at all, take phys at a community college.
