Mother is from this country, and has completed college
Child lives with mother, as parents are seperated</p>
<p>Will he be a first generation college student due to his father, or will he not, due to his mother?</p>

<p>My guess is he'll not be considered a first generation college student as one of his parents has completed college. "First generation" means neither parent has gone to college.</p>
<p>Agreed. Definitely not. If the child had no contact with the parent with the degree, an exception might be made, but since he lives with the one with the degree, I think not.</p>
