Just a reminder, the Oct 10th deadline is for receipt of all items, not just the application. In years past, it was the deadline for application, any recs you are sending, GC letter, transcripts, scores etc etc. They will consider ACT/SAT scores as long as the test has been taken by OCT 10th, but only if a student has had at least one prior set of scores to report. They have to have a set a scores in the file by Oct 10th, but will then consider that file after the scores are updated.

So get a move on! It has never ever been as important to be in the first application group as this year.

If your file is not complete by Oct 10, your file will not be considered until the next group. And that is a loooong wait.

Thanks, this is agonizing. I hope the HS transcript goes out today. I doubt it, the GCs aren't quick around here. I'll check with D and if they haven't gone out, I'll ask for a sealed transcript and send it priority with confirmation myself.

D's ACT scores were due to report on 9/24 and they still aren't up. ACT updates every Wednesday and Friday so if they aren't up tomorrow, I'll have to send her "not up to FSU standards" score from June and HOPE that they will accept the September ACT scores. On a positive note, D is also taking the SAT's this Saturday so I can always send those in too when they are available.

D just got this email from FSU. They are waiting on the Transcript and Scores. Are they already postponing applications until January?

Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for applying to Florida State University! The Office of Admissions offers an Online Status Check tool so that you may view the progress of your application at any time. To access this feature, please select the "Status Check" option at fsu.edu | admissions home. Please allow a few days for Online Status Check to reflect the receipt of new materials.

Please note that the deadline for the receipt of the application fee and all required credentials is January 21, 2009. However, the University reserves the right to close freshman admission earlier if warranted by enrollment limitations and the quantity and quality of applicants.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

oops, I could have just posted the wrong date. It might have been the 10th last year. Sorry. But time is passing quickly. The letter mentioning Jan 21 just means that for procrastinators, that is the last date. But, actually, if they fill sooner with good applicants they reserve the right to stop accepting applications by then.

Last year we were in the not so stellar score situation, and my D took the Oct SAT. We had purposely NOT sent any scores to FSU, holding out for those scores to be better. Then, all prior scores turned up as listed on the transcripts :(. Initailly there was some anxiety. Then we learned that if there were NO SCORES REPORTED by the deadline, the app would not even be considered. So the lower scores reported by the school were a blessing in disguise!! They insured that her application was considered in the first group. And her SAT scores came in much improved by early Nov, and she got an acceptance. Had we waited to have all scores sent in with the final sitting, we would have had a problem.... When they say they will consider scores after the application deadline, they do mean that some scores have to show as being received, and in our experience, they seemed to ignore the lower scores once they had higher scores in hand.

Just be sure that ANY scores are in hand by FSU by the 15th. No scores at all means they consider the application incomplete and will not consider it until Jan.

Ok, I'll send her June ACT scores now. FSU superscores, so maybe some info will enhance her application. On D's Septemebr ACT, we have FSU listed as getting the "free" score report. D is taking the ACT again on October 25th, so will we be able to send those scores too?

I've always had the October 10th deadline and just looked this morning and saw October 15th, so I think FSU added another 5 days just recently. Two weeks from tomorrow is the deadline, should be ok.

My understanding is that they will only consider score updates if 1) you have scores to update and 2) the exam has been taken close to the deadline and 3) the scores will be in FSU's hands with enough time to consider them before the date they announce acceptances. You will have to call them to see if the accept the Oct 25 scores for the Dec acceptance. They may be.

Last year when D was able to see her scores online, but FSU did not have them yet, she printed the screen and faxed the results to an admission counselor with the note that they were of course "unofficial" but she wanted to be sure they had at least those to "see." FSU had them officially 2-3 after that. She sent the fax with a note indicating FSU was her first choice (it was by far) and that she wanted to be sure they saw how hard she was working to prepare for FSU, etc. She was so worried about her scores.

I sent them a college application fee waiver on the mail on Wednesday...I don't know if they've received it, and on my status check it says $30 fee is due...I really hope they have it by Monday, if not then I guess I'll just have to pay it...AHHH I'm so stressed

The only thing I don't know about is the college transcript I sent them (that you have to send if you have taken DE courses). I sent it electronically like a week ago. It doesn't say it is "received"...it just says it is not needed for admissions decisions or something like that.
