I feel like you guys will be the only people who will understand me...

Anyway, I'm like you guys. I work hard and I never give up. I'm diligent like that. I'm one of those people. If I'm dying from the flu/cold/whatever, I'll still go to school and pray I won't die from coughs OR hope that the sniffles won't get to me while taking a big test.

But sadly, my entire school is really the opposite of me. I'm the new girl there, so I kind of have to adjust and make new friends. Over here, everyone is pretty much just mean, rude, or nice. And in the nice people category, I feel that all of them are insecure, depressed, #foreveralone types (Now I'm not saying #foreveralone is a bad thing, but they constantly INCESSANTLY talk about it). Anyway in my English class, I'm in a group with one of my close friends and this girl who is my close friends' friend. And we are suppose to do a project that's due on monday. This project is becoming a nightmare. I finished early this morning, so afterwards I left and went shopping. When I came back, I asked how's the work going for their sections. Guess what they said, "Oh, I don't get it. I gave up".

OGHSOGIAHOGUAG. I'm seriously growing increasingly mad (partially because I'm in a terrible mood and mostly because of my group's attitude). We have this project due guys! Giving up will do absolutely nothing! So now, I'm looking at the requirements and thinking how the heck will we finish. Because one of the members work for a volunteer job like EVERY FREAKIN DAY and the other one is in la la land or something.

I SERIOUSLY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO. Should I just write up the entire project? Should I just push them to work?

In school stuff, very few people will live up to your greatest expectations. I don’t really know how good of friends you are with these people or there attitudes so that has to determine how you deal with this. If I were in this situation I would probably tell them to start working and finish it, also you could offer them help to work on it, to make sure they are doing adequate work, but don’t be obnoxious about it. If they don’t/ are unwilling to do it, I would just do the project.

I hate people like that, so when this happened to me, I gave the group my part (while keeping a copy), split, and did the rest by myself. They didn’t know what to do and asked the teacher and she sided with me. They seem like leeches, you can’t let leeches get what they want.

Why don’t you just work on their parts together with them.

That way: 1) You can help them understand it, since you seem to get the project, 2) You complete the project and get your desired grade or whatever, and 3) They don’t hate you.

Ah, the group project. Teachers and administrators think it is SO GREAT to have you work on group projects. I work on project in groups all day long at work. But it is not like in high school. Here, people eventually lose their jobs if they don’t do the work. And you can actually do something about it sometimes by talking to their bosses or requesting a different person on the project. But in high school you are usually stuck. So if the deadline is near… to avoid a bad grade, suck it up and do their work. Terrible advice, I know. Once it is over and turned in, you can (politely & privately) ask the teacher for a different group if you must do group work again in this class. Let the teacher know that they didn’t carry their load. Anyway, I am sympathetic to your plight!

So I did what you guys said and all. And here are the responses:

Girl 1: Oh I have to work today. I’ll do it later

Girl 2: NOTHING… I’m pretty sure she went to a party or something.

What’s really angering is how uncompromising they are. I told them to try to get it done by saturday so I can finish the layout and crap like that. But if they finish at like 2AM, well I’m not going to stay up late!
