Hi, I just checked my status online of my personal application and saw that I was accepted. So a few questions.

Does anyone know anything about the International Relations program?
Economics?
Class difficulty and quality in general?
Are classes discussion based or are they lecture based?
Scholarship opportunities?
What about the honors program?
General Thoughts about the school?

For scholarships and honors program can someone chance me?
SAT: Math: 690 Reading: 660 Writing : 730 (1350/2080)
I am retaking on Saturday
GPA: 3.82
8 AP's, like 10-12 honors classes
hardest schedule possible
5 years of Spanish and in my first year of Chinese.
Good extracurriculars: Officer Model UN, Officer Spanish Club, in the process of starting JSA, random other stuff including a good deal of volunteer work.
Travel: Have traveled to 20 countries on 5 continents.

You can also earn your way in to the honors program after the first semester but I wouldn't overestimate the benefits of being in it.

If your history interests are in Latin America and especially Central America and the Carribean then it is one of the very best places to go, maybe second to none with extensive research collections as well. The regular Econ programs are so so but the Political Economy program is excellent and there is a lot of interdisciplinary stuff going on as well.

there is no international relations program; ir at tulane is simply a concentration within the poli sci department

tulane's la studies major is not equal to an ir program, since it is interdisciplinary, drawing from the fields of poli sci, sociology (strong emphasis), history, foreign language etc.

okay thanks for the info, if i want to get the very best out of Tulane what related majors would you suggest I take? I am very interested in Latin America as I have taken 5 years of Spanish thus far. Would maybe a Major in Politcal economy/Politcal Science (concentration in IR), and a minor in Latin American Studies be a good plan?

honors program - yes. you will probably get in. it's not that hard, either. you only need 4 honors classes, maintain gpa, and honors thesis to graduate with honors

scholarship - I had "similar" stats to you when I applied last year and I got distinguished honor - $22k/year. you have a shot at deans honor (full scholarship) too. I was too lazy to apply and now i regret it.

International relations - as someone previously mentioned, it is only a concentration in the polysci dpmt. I can't speak for the entire major/concentration, but I am currently enrolled in a 200 level polysci class and I love it. my prof is really good...a lot of them are, I think. I have lots of friends in economics right now and they are doing fine.

difficulty - honors classes are generally not harder (except maybe math?). they're nice b/c there's a cap on class size. generally I think the science dpmt is the most difficult. I get a lot more sleep in college than i did in high school and I took lots of APs/honors. I study ~4 hours every day but I am going for a high gpa. a lot of people go out/party a lot, but I'm a nondrinker so I just made a bunch of other nondrinking friends and we hang out maybe 3-4 nights a week. new orleans is so awesome...
hope that helps
feel free to pm me if you have any questions about tulane.

Just got my acceptance letter in the mail. $24K a year :) I'm quite happy. Just came back from a Tulane info session and was incredibly impressed.
