Reading back through the board I see a lot of mention of Dreamland. And while it is certainly a T’town institution. There is another and many (myself included) say better BBQ place in town. Archibalds is even more of a hole in the wall than Dreamland, but the ribs, pulled pork and sauce is to die for. If you’ve never been there, I urge you all to give it a try the next time you’re in town.

I’m not great on directions, but the way I get there is to head to Northport on McFarland Blvd. Take a left at the Taco Casa and follow that road up the hill to you see a little shack with smoke pouring out.

Have you been to City Cafe yet? It’s also a Tuscaloosa institution, even though it’s actually in Northport :-). But it’s a great meat & three and still almost as cheap as it was back when I was in school.

They are only open mon - fri for breakfast & lunch. Give it a try if you haven’t done so already.

I’ve been meaning to visit it, but my lack of a vehicle keeps me from visiting Northport. I doknow that Blount students have a tradition of going there at 4AM when it opens if they are still studying that late at night. It’s definitely on my list though.

That’s exactly what Dr. Sharpe told me, adding that the less-than-elegant ambience “actually adds to the dining experience.”

Having only tasted Dreamland to date, and loving it, this opinion (along with the praise we’ve seen for Full Moon) makes me think T-town “suffers” from an embarrassment of riches. Now, what to do with my vegetarian daughter when she visits her brother at UA next year? Help!

Don’t sell it short, feenotype. They have 3 or 4 barstools inside as well :-). I love the place though, and make sure I stop by at least once every time I get back down there.
