Just Applied ED

I just applied Early Decision I and was wondering if its possible that CMU will contact me before Dec 15 to let me know if I was admitted or not.

[Admission > Application Plans](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University) says you will be.

Yes but does everyone get notified on dec 15 or is it possible to hear before that date

Yes possible…but last year they were REALLY late with everyone and overwhelmed. Looks they are already in the same place as the EA crowd in October (about 200 or so) was a week late.

I would not count on it being early so this way you will not be disappointed and only pleasantly surprised if it happens.

Check out your login page once they send you the login id by snail mail to ensure everything has been received. Give it at least 2-3 weeks for them to get everything in your file before you worry.

Good Luck!

OK, I checked the “Where Am I In the Process” page and it says my application is complete and that on Nov. 11 my folder was pulled for committee read. Does this mean that I will hear back earlier than Dec 15th since its already being reviewed?

Which school did you apply to?
I hope that they will tell us soon, mine says that it was pulled for committee read on Nov 11th too.

I applied to the SCS

I applied ED 1 as well, on my online ‘where am I in the process’ it says my application was committee read and complete as well, does that mean they have decided?

Why can’t they let me know now haha, the suspense is KILLING me

im in the same boat as you guys and would like to know what “folder pulled committee read” means too. If they do push it back past the 15th do they have to post that somewhere on the website or will they just send them out late???

Guys. Calm down. Do a search for ‘folder pulled committee read’ and you’ll see that we students have been answering questions about that message for like three years. :p

It just means that your file has been read and taken care of and a decision’s been made. They don’t always update (CMU’s office of admissions is like 8 people and they’re RIDICULOUSLY slow at getting anything done) so if you don’t have the message, don’t freak out. If you do, it doesn’t mean your decision is coming early. All decisions are released at the same time.

If decisions are going to be delayed, no one will inform you. They’ll just come a bit late.

haha. we all know you’re right about calming down. Thanks! That was helpful. I did try searching it and it took me to campus confidential oddly enough but i still couldn’t find it. Lol

As I said in a different thread yesterday, last year several students who were EA, ED and RD all reported here on CC that their decision was delayed-- meaning it came AFTER the expected and reported admission decision release date.

What that means-- expect that your decision may not happen on December 15 - and the absence of said decision has no relationship to whether you are accepted or denied-- it simply means-- for some reason, your file just didn’t go out the door.
Also, committee read folder pulled doesn’t always end up on your page either-- so don’t read anything into the absence of that message either.

Also, the decisions are released on the WAIITP page 3 days after they are snail mailed.
All EA decisions arrive in a THIN letter-- so don’t discard the envelope thinking it is bad news b/c the letter is THIN-- you have to open it!

Bottom Line: Go holiday shopping, do your homework, shovel some snow, --do whatever you need to do to enjoy your life one day at a time and to help you take your mind off the date.

Good luck!
