I just applied in the last couple days to IU. Sort of a last minute change of heart when I found out about their sports marketing and management program and their direct admit system. Anyone have any insight on this program?? Am I way too late?

I'll be getting to IU next week for a visit. When are housing things due in by? Hopefully I'm not too late, because this program looks like what I have been wanting. Any comments or feedback is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I applied to the Sport Management program and got in Kelley direct admit. It's one of the better programs in the midwest, some classes are in the Kelley Business school, which is in the top 11 in the country, and top 10 in many majors. They have a strong curriculum, don't know too much about internships. I'm visiting in 2 weeks over spring break, i'm doing the Sport and Society residential community. But basically what the major does is allow you to get an internship with a team or organization that eventually leads to employment with that agency. I'd assume that IU has great connections with Cincinnati and Indianapolis teams (Reds, Bengals, Colts, Pacers). I'm going to try a double major though, with business, because a business degree seems more valuable to me than a SM degree, I can do SM with a business degree, but not business with a SM degree.

Jason, based on what was said yesterday, I think it may be too late to be considered for Direct Admit into the business school. They said they directly admitted 800, but had far fewer slots available, because they know that not everyone will choose Indiana.

I would call the Admissions office on Monday and ask them if it's too late. That's the only way you'll get a correct answer.

jason, i am surprised they are still accepting applications? Also i was not aware that you could still apply to kelly. A freind of mine applied like a month ago and although she has like a 3.7 gpa and a 2100 on her sats, was turned down with a direct acceptance to IU but told she would have to apply sophmore year for kelly, do you have an in?

No, it seems like he meant in the last couple of days...meaning a few days ago from when he posted. He won't be getting into Kelley since its passed the deadline.

Just was looking at IU, didn't realize how strong the school actually was. I want to double major - sports marketing and management, and business.

I have watched with curiosity the OOS kids applying to IU. It has been interesing to see the Kelley talk and hear the thoughts about the campus and such. Not a big deal really, just curious.

a2wolves, I'm not completly committed there yet, but hopefully I will be by the end of the week or early next week. Are you planning on a double major? Where are you from?

I'm from Ann Arbor MI, planning on doing a double major in SM and business. I really want to do SM, but I want to get that business degree, because I know how competitive the sports jobs are out there, and it would be hard to get a job if sports doesn't work out. My dream job would be to be involved with sports personnel. Also, that can be accomplished with a business degree I heard. I'm not committed either, but i'm visiting the week of the 17-21, and if Michigan rejects me, i'm pretty sure that visit will seal the deal in me going there.
