Thanks!

Honestly, your GPA is just not high enough for Tech. Your SAT is ok and your extracurriculars are good…

I’m curious how you got that GT GPA. If you’re a typical HS senior with 6 semester of 8 classes / semester finished so far, that’s 68 = 48 grades. With your UWGPA, that’s 483.02 = 145 quality points. 4 AP courses * 2 semesters / course * 0.5 = 4 extra quality points for a total of 149 weighted quality points. / 48 grades = 3.10 GPA.

Eitherway, a 3.1 GPA or a 3.4 GPA is not competitive for GT at all. Add to that a Math and CR SAT score below average, and you’re not likely to be admitted. Maybe deferred early, but not admitted.

Very little chance…sorry man. It’s still good that you applied though - you have a better chance if you apply than if you don’t.

what are your back-up schools?

Going to be pretty tough. The majority of the freshmen here got above 750 on the math portion for the SAT.

@piao1991:you think having a high SAT 1 math score would be an advantage?I have a 760 in math but 540 in reading and 630 in writing.I’ve repeated in november now and i’m expecting further improvement in math, you think that could be an advantage.
I also have 800 on the math subject test.

With your GPA, the only thing that will really help is either some sort of exceptional EC (like winning a national or international competition) or having a great hook shot.

@piao 1991- The college board statistics beg to differ:
[College Search - Georgia Institute of Technology - Georgia Tech - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)
The top 25% got higher than a 750.

Your post scared me because I hate math problems on standardized tests, and only have a 690.

a 690 is not a bad score. Honestly, once you go to Tech it doesnt matter at all what you got on the SAT, but what you learned in high school. I made a 680 on the SAT math and am doing better in my Calc 2 class then many people who got 700+. The SAT does not show how good you are at math, since I have the second hardest calc teacher at Tech and almost have an A.

@ ilyssa, who is you calc 2 teacher, Geronimo?

^u got it…

so basically
i wont get in :</p>

do they pay much attention to the essay?
I actually think I did pretty good on my essay

Your GPA is so low they won’t get that far.
