Just ask.

So, inpiration from this thread came from a variety of places. 1.) a certain forum in the parent cafe, and 2.) reading various threads that turned into personal attack fests rather than an educated and intellectual group of individuals sharing opinions for the purpose of broading perpectives. (That was my inner hippie getting out, I shall restrain her as much as possible, but no promises)

Anyway, this forum has been created for the purpose of (Yes) asking and responding to the questions of other high school/college/whoeverelse individuals without (this is my hope) any "attacks" on anyone ccer or people group.

These questions are not for my answering but for the answering of whomever wishes to lend either support or experience to other cc members.

Ready, Go.

In case I failed to convey my point, the major theme of this thread is (hopefully) respect for eachother

I was going to make my own thread, but since this thread is already here, I suppose I’ll ask here.
So, I’ve got myself into a bad situation. The cc Spanish class I am taking requires lab hours, and, like an idiot, I put them off until the last minute thinking I would have plenty of time. It turns out that the lab is closed on Fridays and only open for four hours on Saturday. We are required to fulfill 650 minutes in the lab. So far I have just shy of 200 minutes. Our final is tuesday. The lab is worth five percent of our grade, but it says that not completing all the lab can negatively affect your grade, so I don’t know if that means she could take more than that off, going into the class participation points, which is 25% of our grade. I have attended every class, and been fairly active in participating, so I was expecting the full 25% for participation. My average for 50% of the class is 96%. The final is worth twenty percent, and I expect at least an 80.
I will have about 500 minutes since I’m going all day saturday and some on monday.
So, I have a few options:
1)Go with the 500 minutes, and hope for the best
2)Leave after fourth period Monday and get full lab hours. (I would be missing math (we won’t have a test that day), and track. Hopefully persuade my parents to make up an excuse, or just go to the office and sign myself out as sick.
What should I do?
Sorry for the long-windedness, I’m a bit stressed.

Its all good. Personally Id skip math, but Ive missed school for work dozens of times since freshman year and it does not weigh on my conscience. But how are lab hours logged? Would anyone be able to tell that you were supposed to be in one class but were instead completing spanish lab? I dont quite understand how that part works, we dont have that requirement at my school.

I’d go with option 2

Skip math. It sounds like you’re doing really well in the class, and you don’t want something as stupid as a participation grade to jeopardize that.

Thanks!
My high school would have no way of knowing I was at the lab, as it is part of the City College, so no problem there. I’m going to some trouble convincing my parents to sign off on me leaving school, since it really is my fault for not doing it earlier, but I think I can pull it off. It wouldn’t be a problem at all, except I have a two hour final on Monday night, so I won’t have that time. gah
